You're Birdarak, the half dire crow half giant spider chimaera.

You were flying around looking for your next prey when you sighted something that caught your eyes: a tribe of humanoid creatures.

Pondering that perhaps you could acquire your sustenance more easily if you made them look for it for you, you decided to approach the creatures and become their master!

What kind of creatures were those?

> humans
> orcs
> elves
> lizardmen

And how do you approach them?

> kill their leaders in mortal combat
> claim to be a deity and demand worship and offerings of food
> offer to become the protector of their land in exchange for a tithe
> capture an infant, hide and train it to be your emissary

Ah! The creatures are Hooman.

You heard of those before - they aren't much to look at, but sometimes a powerful hero shows up in their midst. You hope you're not unlucky enough for one to be up to no good there and foil your masterplan.

You descend into the middle of the human city and make your claim.

"I am Birdarak, God of Death! Worship me and make food offerings and you will be spared!"

Fearing your might, the people prostrate themselves and worship you!

They bring a slaughtered lamb and offer it to you.

"Our food supplies are meager, mighty Birdarak, this is all we can offer you.", says the local leader, an elder with a long beard.

You devour the lamb and ponder what to do next.

> You're still hungry, demand more food
> Form a cult to worship you, have the humans invent some songs of praise
> Inquire the elder about the military capabilities of the settlement
> Tell the humans to dig you a suitable burrow so you can sleep

You identify four leaders in the village

> the elder
> the blacksmith
> the healer
> the merchant

what are you going to do about them?

Let us deepen our faith! Maybe we'll get actual power from it? Who knows.

>the elder
He remembers the old ways. Let's show him how good the new ones are, by solving some problem of theirs.

>the blacksmith
Task them with making some armour for our legs and thorax.

>the healer
Tell them to work, for early deaths displease us!

>the merchant
Ask the merchant about the settlements and cultures nearby, as we have been in the realm of the dead for a long time and aren't sure what's changed.

"Organize the cult, get all the children to sing songs of praise to the mighty Birdarak!"

"At once! Come children, we have new songs for you to sing...", says the healer, taking the children away.

"Not you, healer. I can smell sickness in this place. You're not working hard enough. Early deaths are displeasing to the mighty Birdarak!", you say, the stench of disease filling your senses. You wouldn't eat these sick hoomans if you were starving, but they don't need to know it.

"It is not her fault, oh mighty one! The village has been menaced by a group of bandits and I did not allow Tarka to go out and gather herbs."

Tarka? The first hooman name you hear.

"You! Blacksmith! Make some armour for the legs and thorax of the mighty Birdarak!"

"I-I will! I will get to work immediately! I just need... huh... your measurements..."

"Proceeed."

You allow the blacksmith to take your measurements with his apprentice and then he went on to work.

"You! Merchant! The mighty Birdarak has been for a long time in the realm of the dead, what has changed in my long abscence? What creatures inhabit the nearby lands now?"

"Oh, mighty one! Some things don't change much, while others are in constant turmoil. To the north there is the Isthmus of Pirak, beyond which there is Lornarien, the ancient elvish kingdom."

"Ah! I remember them too well...", you shudder, remembering how close to death you went when you faced their expert longbowelves.

"To the north there are many warring tribes, for the kings of the south are long dead."

Good. Those kings were always a pain.

"To the east, beyond the sea there is the kingdom of Parmakia. Many exquisite goods can be sourced there, but they mostly isolate themselves. Our ancestor came from there long ago."

"And to the west?"

"Ah! There is a nearly limitless expanse of virgin land, populated by all kinds of monsters."

You came from there. You know the place too well. The closest tribe is the Pukuaks, a bunch of feral halflings. The most dangerous tribe is the Megroks, a tribe of ogres. They aren't afraid of you nor your kind, as they can easily beat you into a pulp - if they manage to get close enough.

"The Mighty Birdarak will bless your people. Those who would hurt you will die screaming."

"Blessed be the mighty Birdarak!", the people chant.

You fly away looking for the bandits.

Their stench gives them away, even though they are well hidden.

A cave. Too small for you to enter with your magnificent form.

That's a setback.

How are you going to deal with it?

> Cover the entrance with web
> Wait. They will have to come out eventually

You gather some lumber and pile it up in front of the cave, partially blocking the exit.

Then you ponder how to light a fire.

"Well, I had just planned things this far.", you think to yourself.

You never had to light a fire before.

You try rubbing some sticks with your pedipalps.

It takes a long time, but you finally set the lumber pile ablaze.

The bandits come running and coughing not too long after once the smoke starts filling the caves, there are seven of them.

"Whatahell is that?", one says pointing at you.

"Submit yourselves to the Mighty Birdarak, God of Death, and you may live!"

"Kill that thing!", says the bandit leader.

The bandits draw their blades and approach you cautiously.

> Murder their leader and demand submission from the survivors
> They had their chance, time to murder them all
> Cover them in web and set them on fire, some of them might survive
> Disarm them with your web and demand again they submit or die
> Capture them into web coccoons and carry them back to the village

You shoot your web at the bandits promptly, they get tangled in it, then you approach them and expertly disarm them.

You then drag their leader away from the rest, wrap him on webs and then set him on fire!

The bandits watch horrified as their leader burns up.

"Surrender to the mighty Birdarak or die!"

"We surrender! We surrender! Please spare us!", they say, begging for their lives.

What will you do with them?
> Bring them back to the settlement, they shall be slaves

You return to the settlement with the bandits turned slaves.

"Behold! The mighty Birdarak brings your foes into submission to serve you!"

"Praised be the mighty Birdarak!"

The people sing hymns in your hommage and there are throw three days of festivities!

Once you grow weary of merriment, you sense a putrid smell coming from the west!

Beyond the reach of the senses of these puny humans, a large horde of undead are marching!

They might or might not attack your settlement - they are very far away and may not have heard your relatively modest party. You only caught the faintest of whiffs, brought by the breeze.

>Wait until your armor is ready
>Send armed villagers with Tarka to gather herbs

If a few armed villagers out to gather herbs is enough to tip off the undead horde to us then it wasn't going to pass us by unmolested anyway.

If it is headed this way, we'll have an early warning and an opportunity to further demonstrate the Mighty Birdarak's prowess in saving the villagers from yet another threat.
