You wake up surrounded by a veil of clouds

'it's a dream' you think to yourself, you're incorporeal, your body seemingly unimportant, all of your sensations are dulled out, but most importantly of all,

you feel strange, extremely strange, something is not right, but it's alright, you guess, there is nothing you need to worry about, but you just cannot shake of this feeling, this *esoteric* sense of strangeness, but you're stoic, you'll figure this out.

As you come back to your senses, back to reality, you feel like you haven't left the dream world, this feeling of 'strangeness' comes back to you, it sticks to you like water, you will have to figure this out, but before that, reality comes first.

You need to prepare and get to school, you stink, but there is no time to shower, you get out of you bed and go to the toilet, your fatigue weighing heavily on your shoulders,
but the feeling of relief from pissing is a small comfort in these long days of tediousness,
you put on the same clothes you wore 2 days ago,
same with the crusty socks and raggedy shoes.

You are not poor per se, but you hardly care about appearance and you cannot be bothered with getting new shoes, you are pretty conservative about change.

you brush your hair in front of the mirror, it's gotten pretty lengthy so you started brushing it some time ago, it's thick and oily, not exactly the prettiest sight to behold, same situation with the face, oily, and nerdy due to your glasses.

You don't eat breakfast, you prefer to eat a big lunch after school, getting a good breakfast takes too much time, time that is needed to catch a bus in time to get to school in time.

As you leave your home, the cool wind eases a bit more of your fatigue. Today will be a long and boring day, these solaces cool your nerves, "well, here I go" you say to yourself.

You get on the bus and sit by a window in the back of the bus, you got your favorite spot on the bus, it's a nice feeling. As you ride the bus you reflect a bit on *Time*, the word stuck with you ever since you thought about breakfast, you sacrifice your stomach for time everyday, even if you are late decently frequently, whatever, it is what it is, you just need to get through this day, you can't be bothered with philosophy in the morning.

You leave the bus and walk to your school campus, it's modest but nice, it's the town's biggest high-school, but your town isn't too large so the school is modest all the same.

You get to your class a couple of minutes late, the class ignores you and you sit by your classmates, as the class goes on.

You think back on the 'strangeness' you felt since this morning, now reflecting on it, you clear out this feeling, it's like a calling, a primordial calling, you have no idea why you are describing it in such a way, but you feel like it's the only way to describe it, as if you *must do something*, suddenly the teacher calls on you "David, could you please explain what does this entail?" you tell her a half-assed answer, almost right but not quite, you will learn the material later by yourself.

You return to *the feeling*, the *Calling* you describe it as, you are simply too puzzled to figure it out, yet too curious to let it go, maybe something is wrong with your brain? Maybe this school year's Fatigue is starting to affect you? Maybe your destiny is being called on? that question was half in joke, but you think it's a nice thought, you enjoy fantasy and day dreaming.

After some more contemplation and a couple more classes later you arrive at lunch, your mother did get you a sandwich, which you are glad for, not a lot of calories, but it will carry you to your actual lunch.

As you sit on a random bench in the lunchroom of the school, you notice a raven haired girl sitting by herself eating a sandwich, you are not a social person, and you are indeed not interested in any romantic interests, but for some reason something compels you to talk to her.

You pack your half eaten sandwich in your bag and start walking to her, she has a pretty boring build and face, though something does arise from her eyes, something mysterious, that mysteriousness must be what was calling you here.

you sit in front of her, what do you do?

(hey I am pretty new to writing, if you could give me some good criticism I'd appreciate it)

You sit in-front of her, a bit anxious, but head-forth, you start talking to her.

"Uhm, hey, how was your day?" You awkwardly say, you have no idea how to start this conversation.

She looks up at you, with a look of mild puzzlement on her face she says
"Fine I guess? do you want something?"

She has a meek voice, not exactly extroverted, you find it 'kinda of cute'.

Aside from that, you're a little bit embarrassed, you think to yourself that you should just get on with it, however awkward that may be.

You prepare yourself for what you are about to say, coughing away your anxiety, you start talking.

"Well" you pause "Have you" you pause again, a bit anxious, you start over.
"Have you ever felt like something was.. just not right? As if, something has happened, and you have to 'do something about it'?"
You squint at her
"It's as if, something, or someone was calling unto you" you say, voice now a bit hoarse from emotion.

Suddenly her eyes brighten up, "wait, have you felt it too?" she says with contained excitement, "this 'void', as i like to call it, has been plaguing me for almost a month!" Her eyes a strange mix of excitement and mild fear, "it's as if some ancient god or whatever was giving me some esoteric type of quest!" she says, her meekness now overshadowed by her enthusiasm.

A bit overwhelmed, you continue on, "I don't know why, but for some reason I was compelled to speak to you" You scratch your hair, "do you think this is some coincidence or medical thing?" you ask her.

"No way" she says with resolve, "I've looked around the internet and there is nothing about this"

"then what is it"? you ask

"Come on, what do you think it is? It's destiny! You yourself mentioned how you 'felt compelled to me'!" she says the last part almost mockingly.

"Well, I don't think we should be jumping to conclusions of fantastical stories just yet, there is no way you looked hard enough in the internet, and aside from that, there must be some way we could solve this logically"

"well what DO you think we should do?" she asks

How do you try and solve this mystery?
(again, I'd like some nice criticism if you guys can)

isn't the point of this quest thing is for both parties to do something creative? I am new here so I am sorry if I am clueless, but I think just giving options for what to do kinda defeats the purpose of this thing

If you're new here then it's probably a good idea to take a look at some of the other quests on the catalog and see how they do it. Your heart and writing seem to be in the right place, but I think you could definitely benefit from looking around and seeing how other quests handle options and other things.

Anons love writing in but generally it's either mixed or the GM in full control. Full blank slate just don't feel right.

>Get more details about her experiences with the "Void"
she's far more experience with the phenomenon than us, so we can use her as our baseline for now.
>>6257692
Anons like a sense of structure to these things as it can help form a general direction for the story as well as reduce the anxiety of making a bad decision and prematurely ending a quest. Note for more comedic/ light-hearted quests players are a lot more open with throwing shit on the wall to see what works as consequences aren't as severe.

Well I guess that makes sense, so I'll give some options to choose from (though I personally prefer you guys coming up with something of your own)

>>6257682
So, to try and solve this mystery, you both think of a few options

>Look around more online, perhaps ask about it in some sort of forum?
>Go to the school library's old section, it contains a few shelves of psychological and spiritual esotericism
>Perhaps go to a doctor? though they might just think you're crazy
>Maybe you could ask the weird old gypsy sorceress about it? 'Gypsy women are always keen with that sort of stuff' you joke to yourself
>Perhaps some other way? (please do this lmao)

You try to think of some seemingly reasonable ways to solve this mystery, but after thinking about each option carefully, they all just feel just ridiculous, It's seems almost inconceivable to you that you and your new friend here ('I should get her name' you think) are in this situation, 'go to a doctor' you mock yourself in your mind, what could any doctor say about a 'strange feeling'?

You could search it on the internet, again, she had a whole month to look this up, and why didn't the prospects of finding out about this *feeling* deeper then going on the internet come to her mind?

You feel like you should ask her, but another thought tells you you should not be paranoid about this..

You are really going off the rails, You should just ask her

"Hey, I've been thinking, why haven't you looked into this matter deeper beforehand, why only now are we going into this matter?"

"well.." she seems a little embarrassed "I don't really know, I guess I felt like I should wait for something, I was *compelled* to wait for something.." she thinks for a second "just like how you were compelled to me! I don't really understand this, but I felt like I needed to wait for you, I didn't really get it, but now I guess the feeling is compelling me to look into it."

"strange.." you say quietly "maybe..just maybe, we need to figure this out by our own selves? together perhaps?"

"yeah that makes sense" she says "If this calling made me wait for you, and it called you to me, perhaps we need to do it together." she looks at you "Hey, by the way, what's your name? It's strange we haven't introduced ourselves yet"

"uh yeah, I was wondering that too, my name's David, what's yours?

"Nice to meet you, dear adventure friend David, I am Elissa!" she grins, she reaches a hand out, you shake it, it feels good to a part of something.

(gonna complete this later, writing is fun, but so tiring, only posting now so it will bump)
