King Protolau had three daughters, who all became adventurers. Upon learning of his death, they came back. The people discovered that one became a necromancer, another a paladin, and the youngest a gunslinger.
The council gets together to deliberate what to do.
Choose one of the daughters to be, name her, and determine what the council decided for you:
> You shall be crowned the new queen of Protoland
> You shall receive an out of the way County to rule and not annoy the new queen
> You shall be stripped of rank and forced to take the vows. However, you rebel, gather some misfits and go start your own thing in the Misty Forest
Each playstyle will be different, so choose wisely which one you want.
In the Misty Forest you will have to constantly Raid the neighbouring kingdoms to get enough supplies to survive. The forest borders four different kingdoms, and although it is creepy and unsettling to go through there, the other paths are even worse. There is a constant influx of caravans and travellers, sometimes law enforcement. It is the hardmode essentially.
As the Queen, you will have to keep your diplomacy in check with the neighboring three kingdoms. Wars are frequent and backstabbing even more so. You may lose or gain counties from your enemies. You may be betrayed by your own nobles. You have to juggle the morale of your allies by doing things that please them so they don't become enemies. It is the stressful option, but you start with a lot of power available right away.
In an out of the way County, you are sheltered from most land warfare. You have the opportunity to develop economically if you're so inclined. However, expect any gains to be massively taxed, and your own army will be constantly conscripted to fight in the Queen's war. You may have some success in machinantions against the queen or other nobles if you're not too overt about it. It is the comfiest option, easy mode if you may.

TIEBREAKER
1 - gunslinger in the woods
2 - necomancer in the palace
You are the youngest child of deceased King Protolau. Your sister, the necromancer, seized the throne and so that you wouldn't menace her rule, forced you to take the vows.
But you decided to start your own thing! You gathered a bunch of loyal people and departed to the Misty Forest.
The region is sparsely populated, with many small villages and hamlets.
You get together 4,000 people you recruit all over the place and start your new city.
> Name MC
> Name City
Create TWO troop types for your city defense.
> TROOP 1
> TROOP 2
You have up to 7 points to distribute between MELEE, RANGED, DEFENSE, HP and MOBILITY. Mobility costs 2 points per point.
The unity costs 100 production for the first point, 200 for the second, 300 for the third and so on. the first point must be spent on HP. you can give it one simple special ability for 1 point.
1 - 100
2 - 300
3 - 600
4 - 1,000
5 - 1,500
6 - 2,100
7 - 2,800
Units also have a material cost associated. The material cost will be the same as the production cost, divided between food, lumber and gold (or other resources if you prefer). They will also have an upkeep of 100 gold per point.
Each unit population produces 2 food if assigned as a farmer, and 1 ot whatever other resource. Currently I'm just keeping track of Food, Lumber, Gold and Production, but it might become important to keep track of other stuff later, I'll simply add it. I will balance the production in such a way that your people won't starve, but you can give specific orders if you want (focus on lumber, or focus on gold, or focus on production)
Base pop growth rate is 2%. You can built stuff to increase it.
Most simple buildings cost up to 10,000 production to build. Some cost 20,000, the big ones cost 40,000 or 80,000 or even 100,000 or 200,000.
tier 0 - granary, town house, barracks, smith, library, stable 4k

tier 3 - parthenon, miners guild, alchemist 40k
tier 4 - cathedral 80k
tier 5 - mechanicians guild 100k

Building an unit lowers your population by 1,000. The most basic unit is the SETTLER who can build new cities. SETTLERS cost 1,000 production and 1,000 food, and have 1 health, 1 mobility, special: start new city
>>6266082Oh, and the misty forest has enough space for 7 cities maximum. Your settlment is the only one that exists currently.
I'm not gonna draw a map right now but I can keep track of up to seven cities, no biggie.
Further expansion might complicate things, but we'll see.
