The stars align themselves under the heavens once more, tonight is the birth of a new chosen God. A special event that only incurs on set increments, unless tampered by the gods themselves.
The hospital lights are dizzying bright, the white walls and sterile materials only serving to further make her head feel worse. Your mother is pushing relentlessly through her labor, following the breathing instructions from the nurses and gripping onto the bed. The many hours which have passed are showing their toll on the poor woman, the Labor and Delivery team all share worried looks with each other, that's until finally you begin to crown and show your head.
"Keep pushing, you're so close!" The nurses encourage, your mom struggles with her breathing technique the more you start coming out.
She screams in pain, the sound vibrating and nearly in sync with your own high pitched wailing when you come out. You are gently picked up by one of the women in the room as she quickly tends to you and looks over your body. Before she can realize what's going on she announces that you're a..

>>6272096 (OP)"It's a boy!" She announces to the room delightfully, the entire team gather around the new mother. She is simply laying their limp, no movement at all and extremely shallow breaths. Her entire body is quickly being drained of all it's color, despite this she still reaches out to you.
"My precious boy..", she says weakly.
The nurse holds you tightly, the atmosphere around the room has very quickly taken a dark tone. The woman holding you gives you a worried expression as the team quickly tries to resuscitate the young mothers body.
13 YEARS LATER
You wake up in your dorm, the sun cascading across the sky and into the windows of your bedroom. It's not long before the others begin to wake as well. Most of the kids here have ignored you almost all your life living so far at the orphanage, it won't be long until you're considered too old to stay here.
Despite your luck at getting adopted or making at least a few friends, there's always been one person who has stuck by your side.

Hello everyone! Welcome to Chosen Quest, inspired by a similar quest on this board long ago, Godhead, a thread that ended painfully early due to the MC dying from a series of horrible rolls.
I will update as much as I can throughout the day, the frequency will vary greatly but there will always be at least one post a day.
Hope you enjoy!

>>6272138Victoria has been there through thick and thin with you. Ever since you first arrived at the orphanage, when you were very little, you've always been so much different from the kids you spent your time around. Common things they would get hurt by on the playground didn't really phase you as much, and you've always excelled at your studies within the home. You recall a time when Victoria once stopped a boy from trying to fight you a year ago, despite the fact she knows for whatever reason you don't get hurt easily.
Her long black hair cascades down her slender, youthful back. Victoria's dark green eyes are beautiful, sometimes you find yourself captivated by them like you're under her spell. It hasn't been any easier since your hormones have started working up.
Your time spent at the orphanage definitely had more downs than ups, the boredom of this place sometimes gets even to yourself, that was until you figured out a special talent you possessed before entering your early teen years.

Plus depending on how broad “animal” is things could get interesting
Victoria aside, getting along with people was never really your strong suit. You quickly found out over time though that you are really good with animals, you don't even have to try to coax one into coming near you, they just kind of always have. Not long after finding this out, you began feeling strange sensations within your body and not the kind that occur for a growth spurt either.
These feelings came in waves at first, sensations like random spasms in your muscles, as if they had a mind of your own. It didn't take many more days of this until you turned into your first creature though, it started with something smaller, a squirrel. Gradually over time and with some practice you could turn into bigger and more complex creatures, some of which you're not even sure are of this plane.
You're currently skilled enough at shapeshifting to turn into any animal in the mortal plane
You can turn into the menacing and mythical gargoyle, though at your current degree of skill it takes a great deal of effort

The summer season has come, and the weather begins to heat up. Victoria is happily bounding next to you, her feet trotting on the ground and her hair lifting slightly with each bounce in her step. You both spend some time hanging out and playing on a nature trail near the orphanage, Victoria is like you in the sense that she's never had an interested adoptive family for her, it's a rare thing. Be it for the right reasons or not, girls are often the preferred gender of adoptive children. Though it pains her to experience it, you're sure, at least it's something you're both able to relate with each other on.
Birds soar around and glide through the sky above you both, the trail critters watching passively as you make your way down the path.
"Do you ever think a family will be interested in us?" Victoria asks you suddenly, stopping in her steps. Her expression not even bothering to try and mask her growing anxiety over the matter.
Truthfully you've never given it much thought. You know the basics of it all, your mother died during your own childbirth. You also understand to the extent of what a 13 year old is capable of, that you're missing out on a lot of experiences you could be having with a family. Something about the whole idea has always felt like a grey area up until she's asked you directly about it.
>Yes, I can't wait for a family to call my own
>Maybe one day

>>6272261Nature is our family! And Victoria is... our family by marriage someday, inshallah
"Depending on yourself isn't so bad.. is it?" You reply to her question with another one, Victoria just tilts her head thinking about it before shrugging her shoulders. Yeah, if there's one thing that you've been certain of this entire time, it's that might controls everything. If you want to call the shots in a situation than you have to have power.
The minutes tick by as you both continue on your way down the trail, the evening sunset begins to sink itself down over the horizon. You both sit there and just enjoy the view, Victoria's head tilts it's way onto your shoulder and time flies by as you both enjoy the moment. As the sky continues to dark with time continuing to move forward, you both decide it's time to head back to the orphanage. The way back is quick and you both arrive at the front entrance in no time, when you open the door you come to find the manager of the building standing in the front reception.
"Victoria, Ethan.. not often I see the both of you at once out here," he says, eyeing you in particular.
Mr.Bowersly is a rather tenacious old man, you've often heard rumors about him circulating around some of the older kids at the orphanage. Apparently, Bowersly is a retired researcher for the military, the proof of this rumor being discovered by some other boy at the home here. Having found Bowersly' wallet forgotten and left on the floor one day, inside it there was a picture of him at a much younger age in uniform, shaking hands with a massively oversized, red haired man. A huge, metal hammer rests with it's head on the ground in-between them in the photo. It's anyone's guess what's happening in that picture, but it paints truth to some of his supposed past. What they must be feeding the construction workers for the army over there though must really be something if the man he was shaking hands with is any indication.

"Hello, Mr. Bowersly.." you timidly say to the older man. The manager of the orphanage has always been a kind man to you albeit he has a strange demeanor about him. There have been other children, both younger and older than yourself who he has personally taken under his wing since you've been here and left the building, though it seems he's extremely selective about who gets to go with him. Part of you wonders what he looks for in the kids here, he doesn't seem particularly biased towards gender, so that couldn't be it.
His one, greyish blue eye continues to watch you attentively. The other eye supposedly missing and needing an eyepatch over it. He crosses his arms over his chest and taps his foot on the ground, "I do hope you both exercise caution out there and stop staying out so late. The grounds here are secure, but sometimes we get the odd trespasser, I wouldn't want anything to happen to either of you," he says to both Victoria and yourself, a warm smile painting across his face.
You both just nod at his remark in agreement and he gives you two a pat on the back as he makes way for whatever he may be doing tonight. Victoria mentions that she's pretty tired and is going to bed for the rest of the night, you give each other a quick hug and she makes way for the girls wing in the orphanage. Looks like another day is just about finished, though there's still some time to do one more thing if you want to.

The long and narrow hallway leading down to manager Bowersly's room is darkened by the night sky. "Report, Bowersly," the faint voice can be heard saying.
The floors creak and give way under the pressure of your steps, many birds from the tree line outside watch in bewilderment as you change form into that of a mouse, and hasten your pace towards the door to eavesdrop.

Like a true rodent, your body stays close to the ground as your tiny little paws hide you underneath a sofa in Bowersly's room. Bowersly is standing there, poising himself in front of the strange person on the screen. The screen is displaying is royally dressed, blue skinned man with long dark hair. He is wearing some bright and colorful assortments of robes strewn across his body, if his multi-armed form wasn't immediately distracting to you, than it would've been how iced out this guy is. He is wearing so many gold adornments over his neck and wrists that it looks impractically heavy to wear. Despite his calm looking posture, something about this thing strikes a deep and primal fear within you.
"Report, Bowersly," the blue skinned man says, his voice surprisingly like silk across your ears.
Bowersly straightens himself up, "The Godhead project is coming along steadily, Vishnu. I'm seeing rapid progression in skill with codename Veles, some of the children have not shown signs yet of their gifts. Those who have already been cleared as normal, or with only slightly heightened abilities have swiftly been approved for adoption to any wanting families. Though, these results were to be expected, it will still require many more years before this can all come to fruition," he says to the screen.
"Excellent, even we gods have come to admire your efficiency. Remember to be continue being thorough, if you get any aggressive ones than the Norse pantheon is on standby for emergencies," the blue man, Vishnu, says to him.
Bowersly only nods his head in response, Vishnu smiles and the screen flickers off. What the hell is going on here, what was that man? You don't have much time left before Bowersly retires to his bed, not noticing you he kicks off his shoes and some of his clothes and is swiftly asleep.
You hightail it out of the room, finally when you make it to your own bed in your own dorm, you get under the blankets and change back to your human form. The other boys are sound asleep, but after the events you just saw you can't seem to do the same. Those who have been cleared as normal or nearly so, get adopted.. could that Bowersly is purposely withholding you from being listed as under adoption, and what about Victoria than?

You need to talk to Vicky about this, you're sure of it. Tomorrow you'll catch her up on what you witnessed tonight. Eventually sleep catches up to your weary eyes, the moon canvases itself across the nighttime sky and the stars plaster themselves surrounding it. When you open your eyes once more, you're back on the nature trail you just were on earlier the other day. A bull-horned man with egg white body paint all over himself stands in front of you on the path, many animals are huddled around him. Some sleep soundly, while few watch you intently, the being itself though doesn't seem wary of you as he just stands on the spot with his walking stick clutched in a single hand, supporting him as it's placed on the ground.
"The Earth and its waters bless you, Ethan," he says in a dignified fashion, "I was wondering when you would undertake your first dream walk with me," he finishes. He motions his hand forward as he moves slowly down the trail, beckoning you to join him. The animals likewise follow their master at his slow and tempered pace, the underside of his walking stick connecting to the ground with each step he makes.
Something about the trail feels different, ethereal, it's picture perfect and there's nothing immediately wrong about this place. The anxiety slowly building up in your chest crescendos for a moment as an eagle dives down onto the ground and lands on it's talons in front of you.
"WELL ARE YOU COMING OR WHAT?!" It roughly squawks out to you before ascending once more.

Your pace quickens as you rush to catch up to Veles.
"Ethan, you were born under exceptional circumstances. No doubt you've noticed your latent abilities? To be one with nature is to also become it," he starts saying to you, he halts his steps and you find yourself in an unfamiliar part of the trail, unsure if this area even actually exists on the real one. "I realize there's probably much you are wanting to ask, though we don't have the time for all your questions, I won't refrain from answering any of them either," he tells you.
He takes a seat cross legged on the ground and pats the area in front of him, you sit across from him on the grassy area and the woodland critters following you both lay surrounding you two. The crisp mildew smell of your environment relaxes you, as you continue to breath it in you feel more in tune with the area around you, Veles offers you a mushroom, "eat it," he tells you.

>Why? Who are you? What's a Veles? Are you my dad? What am I?
Veles shows you his own handpicked, colorfully glowing mushroom, "eat it," he asks of you. The premise of this entire situation is just crazy to you, there's no way that this isn't just some weird dream.. right?
Despite your better judgement you take the mushroom being offered to you by Veles and eat it, you don't really feel anything immediately, it's only minutes after that it starts to take effect and wow does it ever hit you. Despite the fact that you're sitting cross-legged, a floating feeling takes over you and you begin levitating just slightly above the ground where you remain seated in the air. You clutch your head, the pain is killing you, though it's only temporary. What follows after is indescribable and incomparable to any feeling you've ever had. Your vision expands tenfold, the darkest areas of the forest change and you're able to see everything clearly, your mind feels sharp and you feel like you can solve any problem thrown at you! You feel like you're on top of the world.
"Alright, Ethan.. that mushroom you ate, the effects are permanent. Now you have a direct link for getting here to me. As I mentioned before, my name is Veles and there's much to be discussed," he goes on. "Short and simple version? You're like my own living avatar, born under unique circumstances that normally only happen every select few years. Same as that Vishnu you saw on your guardians screen, that ain't the real deal.. just someone in a little deep with their powers," he explains.
You shake your head, wait what? You're an avatar of this Veles guy.. what does that mean?
"That's a little more complicated, you are descended from me.. that much is correct, however you're not strictly my own flesh and blood. How do I put this? It's more like we have a very strong connection to each other, I made you from nothing inside of your mother because that's what the stars above dictated," he explains. He puts another mushroom in his mouth and begins chewing on it before continuing, "We share similar abilities, basically my powers are your own. I will do my best to maintain our link with one another, be warned though.. like that Vishnu you saw earlier the more you use my abilities and the stronger the abilities of mine that you use, the more you will begin to look like me. If it gets really bad there've been cases where Gods have manifested through their avatars entirely, losing the consciousness of the person from before," he tells you.
Ok, holy shit. So this entire time there's been a chance you'll start getting molded into the supposed God you embody until they are forced to take over entirely.
>What's the Godhead Project

>Other (write-in)
>>6273098I think we can figure out the others from what we overheard: the otehr kids are like us, or at least some, and whoever has the most potential to manifest divinity sticks around. Bowersly is in charge of supervising it, and he strikes me as an Odin-esque motherfucker. Which means the important thing is:
>Can we trust Bowersly and "Vishnu"?>Are we in immediate danger?and most importantly
>What about Victoria? Is she a goddess? Which one?
>>6273098>What's the Godhead Project
>Can we trust Bowersly and his contacts?
>Are we in immediate danger?

>What's the Godhead project?
You take a deep breath in, then release it out. Ok, this is huge.. you're the avatar of some nature God, there must be others in the orphanage going through relatively the same thing as you. The manager of the entire place has who knows how many avatars working with him. What the hell are they planning on doing with you exactly?
"What's the deal with Bowersly, why is all this happening?" You ask Veles, he shrugs in response.
"Beats me kid, truly. You're the first avatar I've had in centuries. All I know is that man isn't normal, what I've gathered is he obtained some relic from Scandinavia early in his career, something directly utilized by Odin, I'm not sure what it could've been, but that kickstarted this whole project he's got going on," Veles sighs. "If you're asking me if I think he's gonna hurt you? Nah, chances are him and the other avatars don't want to risk burning bridges with the kids who can develop a link like you're able to," he finishes saying. A giant bear gets up from laying next to the two of you and moves itself behind Veles, Veles slumps his back against the body of the bear laying down beside him like it was a couch cushion.
"Well what about Victoria than.. is she involved in the project?" You add yet another question.
The bear snorts in response as Veles eyes it, "Ethan, chances are she's at least somewhat attuned to a deity, it's either that or she just has really shitty luck with being adopted," Veles informs you. "Look, not all god's do this kind of thing right? I brought you here to help you because it's in my ability to. Some deities work more.. esoterically, lets say." He tells you, "I couldn't say for sure what's going on with your friend, though I'd hope she would be honest with you, if you'd just ask her," Veles finishes.
The sunny trail slowly curls over to a sunset sky, seemingly all out of nowhere. "Your time's coming to an end with me on this dream walk, kid, any other questions?"
"What's the Godhead Project?" You ask.
"Something to do with your government and utilizing enough divine power to do something. I'm not sure of it all myself, Ethan, I think only the head avatars and Bowersly himself know that answer," Veles responds. "My turn now," he says to you, "you've become quite efficient at your shapeshifting abilities. Wouldn't you like to do something more though?" He asks you. Without waiting he continues, "wouldn't you like to do something more? Have an edge over the other avatars? I think we can benefit each other here," he tells you. Veles stretches his arms behind his head, "you let me imprint my sigil on you, I can grant you abilities of the underworld," he tells you.

The offer stands out to you, but as an advantage to whom? Not wanting to jump into things immediately, you have a select couple questions for Veles first.
"What's the catch here? You paint something on me and I'm just stronger, there must be something you gain from that," you tell Veles.
Smiling at you in response he shrugs his shoulders, "clever boy, we can get deeper into this later but the rate at which you lose yourself when you use a deities abilities is tied to how many followers worship you. I don't have as much sway as lets say, someone lucky enough to be linked to Zeus, or even Jesus, but if you walk around with my sigil on you, some of the people more in the know will definitely recognize your mark," he tells you. "You get the opportunity to slow down the rate at which you lose your sense of self, and I get a walking promotion for my own, alls fair enough for you?" He asks you.

A bit confused by this. Wouldn’t us bearing his Mark and therefore attractive more attention from people who recognize it by extension lead to more worshipers? Ie, an increased chance of mantling? Or am I misunderstanding.
The extra power is obviously attractive but I’m unsure as to how this will help us preserve our own self identity
>>6273355*attracting more intention
>>6273355You got it right for the most part. The mark, if you allow it to, will give you a foot in the door for an easier shot at attracting more followers. The offer does sound pretty convincing, more power in exchange for just getting Veles' name out there? Why not.
"Ok, sounds fine to me," you tell Veles, he claps his hands in response and jumps back up onto his feet.
He helps you up and once you're both standing in front of each other he puts his hands on your shoulders, "Ethan, this is going to feel weird, I promise it's just a sigil and I'll put it somewhere where it won't be visible unless you WANT to show it," he explains. Your shoulders and the tension of the situation wear off after he tells you this, at least he's not gonna put it on your forehead or anything.
He removes one hand from your shoulder and puts his palm over the right side of your ribcage, a flash radiates from his hand and he keeps it there as your world begins to feel hazy once more. "Ethan.." you hear Victoria somewhere in the background, "Ethan.. wake up," she says again. Veles hears it too and just nods at you while smiling, it's only seconds later and it's done. You lift your shirt up to see the damage and notice a small sigil imprinted on your body.
"Thank you, Ethan, this will be good for both of us, now it's my turn to give you a gift," he tells you. "I'm capable of many things more than shapeshifting, I have mastery over the Earth itself, over it's waters, I also have abilities that I've earned from my time spent in the underworld.. I'll let you choose which kind you want," he smiles and waits.

You think over your options, while they all have their unique advantages you're leaning towards wanting a deeper understanding of mastering the water element. Learning about magic from the underworld sounds very enticing though you're almost 100% positive it comes at a huge cost to yourself.
"I want to learn how to manipulate and utilize water as an ability," you tell Veles. He smiles, patting you on the shoulder.
"So it shall be that way for you, Ethan," he lays his palm flat over the sigil on your ribcage, recites some strange words you're unfamiliar with and when it's all done, you feel as if the tides are at your disposal!

"Damnit, Ethan! Wake up already!" Victoria yells at you, delivering a rough smack to your squarish jawline.
Your eyes fly open and you jump out of bed, "wha-what time is it?" You ask, looking around frantically for the clock in the room. Shit, it's almost 1pm, you've definitely missed your studies for today.

Does Victoria share a similar connection with someone, Bowersly, what is going on with this orphanage? You have a number of questions that need answers and soon.
You look at Victoria, her lithe figure tenses as she catches you eyeing at her intently as you currently are. "Can I ask you something?" You begin, her head tilts to one side wondering where this is gonna go.
"You can talk to me about anything, Ethan, you know that. What else are friends for?" She says reassuringly.
You let loose a breath of relief, "maybe it would be best to talk about this outside," you tell her. Victoria simply nods in response and she leaves your room, giving you a chance to get dressed for the outdoors. You put on a dark, baggy t-shirt and some shorts, making way outside the boys dorm you catch Vicky again and you both make way to the outdoors. After a bit of small talk you both figure that you could just go down the usual hiking trail you both enjoy.
"I had a strange dream," you start, Victoria gives you a side eye and rubs her arm.
"Oh yeah..?" She says nervously, looking around for a brief moment. "Ethan, this isn't going to be like.. a pervert dream or anything is it?" She asks you.
"What? God, no. Listen.. Vicky, I need to ask you something strange," you tell her in response, it seems as though that hasn't settled her at all with her previous question.

Victoria wears an expression on her face as if she is beginning to regret waking you up this morning. This all seems to be going south pretty quickly, you figure at this point it's probably better to just rip the band-aid off and tell it to her straight.
"I.. last night I went on a dream walk with a god named Veles. He told me a lot of different things, one thing he mentioned that stuck out to me was there are other kids here who share similar connections to different gods," you tell her.
Vicky's posture straightens out, she's listening more attentively it seems, though she's not really saying much about what you had just told her either. It's a tense few moments before she speaks up, "Ethan, there's something I need to tell you.. I-"
"There they are!" A masculine voice calls out, cutting off Victoria. Shit, that sounds like Bowersly's little pet.
Sure enough it is, marching down the trail towards you is a group of older boys from the orphanage. The one calling out to his friends earlier is Antonio Perez, his short, black hair shines as the reflection of the sun casts it's light over him seemingly almost in favor of the older boy. His group of friends you aren't very familiar with, though they're almost always together as a collective. All your time spent in the orphanage, you never really liked Antonio all that much, that's to say you never really took much of an opportunity to get to know him. He will often get free passes to skip home schooling sessions at the orphanage from Bowersly, in exchange for playing the role of guard dog and making sure the other kids aren't getting into trouble.
"Heard you skipped out on your lessons, Ethan. Bowersly isn't too happy about that," Antonio says as he closes in on you both, he eyes Victoria up and down and gives her a smile, she looks away in response. "Hey there Victoria.. nice seeing you here," he tells her and reaches his thick hand out to grab her shoulder. Antonio is pretty built for a 16 year old, you've seen him handle multiple unruly kids at the home with ease.
"Be careful, Ethan. There's an incredibly strong presence coming off that boy," you hear Veles tell you in your head suddenly. Huh.. guess he's able to communicate with you now, possibly an effect of the sigil left on your body.

High Roll
Seeing Antonio reach for your friend activates something within you, you feel a surge of energy burst forth and what feels like less than a second you latch onto his forearm, preventing Antonio from grabbing Victoria. Antonio looks at you with a surprised expression that slowly twists into that of disgust, his scowl spreading across Antonio's face, a visual representation that he of yourself a lower being compared to him.
"Hold him for a minute if you can, Ethan," Veles tells you, you feel your connection to Veles grow slightly weaker.
You try to do as Veles asks of you, Antonio's eventual vocal protests and trying to reclaim his arm from your grasp slowly begins to gain a foothold over your own grip strength. Like the impact from a running freight train, something stuns the both of you and sends shocks of pain through Antonio. His winces of discomfort and occasional grunt of pain from whatever is happening to him clearly is beginning to make him frustrated.
"Let go of me!" Antonio yells and in a last ditch effort with all his strength he tugs his beefy arm out of your grasp.
You feel your connection to Veles restore itself and come back.. stronger? "That boy is connected to an Aztec God, Ethan. Exercise caution, they're only second to the Norse pantheon in terms of combat capability," you hear Veles project to you. You may have to ask Veles what's up, you feel the air in your lungs expand tenfold, you feel like you could run a marathon and still have energy to spare.
There's not much time to fully experience this feeling though, as Antonio quickly recovers himself from whatever Veles just did to him, and the sun radiating off his browning complexion only grows brighter out of nowhere. The boy is glowing, literally, you look at Antonio in a concerned way.
"Uh.. you ok?" You ask him.
Antonio seems bewildered by what just happened, the way he gives you an open mouth stare. "What did you just do?" He asks, "My link.. it's-" he cuts himself off as the shine over his body grows even brighter than before once again. He lets out an intense roar, full of rage targeted towards you, the area around you all serves to grow so dizzyingly bright it's like a flashbang is repeatedly stunning everybody. "So Bowersly was right huh? You're a God too, I didn't think you had it in you. You're just so.. pathetic looking," Antonio tells you. This guy looks absolutely brimming with energy, like he's ready to explode at any moment.
Birds are gathering around the area of the trail you're all at, watching you intently. Over the horizon dark clouds form and a roaring thunder can be heard from far away, you get a bad feeling from the storm coming your way.

Successful Roll
Very high roll!
Part 1/2
Did Antonio just say you looked pathetic? You refuse to take that, the audacity of this boy and his lowly gang. Veles had not commented on the boys following him, though they're probably sharing a link with another God it's possible that it's not necessarily that strong of a connection yet. The real threat in front of you right now is Antonio, the bulky looking teenager looks like he's ready to explode with a radiant energy.. literally.
You lock eyes with Antonio, digging your feet into the ground and preparing for what's next you taunt him, "oh yeah? What're you gonna do, smite me?" You coyly remark to him, it only serves to anger him further. You look behind you at Victoria and signal for her to get behind you, unsure of how to stop Antonio. Vicky just looks at you, she seems reluctant to follow your order and let you take on most of the blast, though she complies with your demands shortly after. The thunder and stormy clouds loom ever closer to your gathering, they grow more intense as they approach, the thunder beginning to even strike some of the trail nearby you all. It doesn't dissuade Antonio from continuing, however, as the radiance and expanding energy enveloping the boy grows so intense you can only see the shadowy outline of his body.
"Uh.. Veles, I could use some guidance here," you ask of the God. You close your eyes and try as hard as possible to focus in on your connection with the nature God, his presence feeling as if it's right inside your own being. You run a hand under your shirt and over his sigil, feeling an intense flow coming straight from the sigil and into your own hand.
"You know what to do, Ethan. Look within yourself, within the power you've accumulated, be afraid of nothing for my gifts are your own," Veles projects his words through you. It's true.. you can feel a rising tide within you, wishing to quell the hot, glowing energy radiating off of Antonio. Who's he to call you pathetic? Lesser god's should remain in their own tiers, unquestioning, abiding to those at their own level. You shut your eyes and focus on the environment, the rain from the intense storm only serves to enhance your perception of the elements around you. From out of nowhere a behemoth of a man descends quickly from the stormy clouds, diving head first with their arm extended and a hammer plummeting itself beside him.
You look behind at Victoria one more time and smile, "it's going to be ok, Victoria. I won't let you get hurt," you tell her reassuringly, she just gives you a half smile and a nod, placing her trust in you. You grab her hand and close your eyes again, channeling your power through the both of you. A massive explosion envelops the surrounding area, you can feel the blast but you're unsure of where it's coming from. Antonio's energy has certainly imploded from within him, but the heat from the blast is dissipated.
>>6277023Part 2/2
The impact of the blast from Antonio, and the heat it's produced is scattered, as if though he was targeting you but missed. Though you get the feeling something had blocked the blast instead, and just what happened to you anyway? You feel.. strange, gooey? Your body doesn't feel like it's original state anymore, though you haven't shapeshifted into a creature either. It's shortly after upon your own opening of the senses that both Victoria and yourself rise from a puddle of water, the liquid slowly molding back both of your bodies. What the hell happened..? It's not until you're both fully back in your original human forms that you look at each other and realize you just turned the two of you into a liquified state, absorbing the impact and negating and concussive force from damaging either of you.
You've discovered the ability 'Liquified State', allowing you to convert your entire being into a thick, sticky, watery substance!
Victoria is looking at you in a way you've never noticed before! You should probably talk to her alone when you get the chance
You both take a moment to look away from each other and focus on the aftermath of whatever negated the blast. It's with a shocked expression on your face that you see what's in front of you, the man from Bowersly's picture is standing before you, clutching his hand around Antonio's neck and raising him in the air with a single hand! The reddish haired man is.. ginormous, it's really an understatement to use any descriptor of size for this guy. He's definitely puffy looking, but the musculature below is large and strong enough to show itself beneath his beefy build, "Are you ill, boy?" The humongous man questions Antonio in his mid-air chokehold. "All-Father may give you these menial wrangling tasks, but you're out of line, he tells Antonio, the grip around his throat noticeably strengthens as Antonio kicks and flails around, the color from his face becoming nearly a deep blue. The giant looks behind himself, extending a hand and levitating the hammer from the ground to his grip. "What of you, nature child? Are you ok?" He asks you with a softer tone.
>Yes, I'm ok>No, Antonio seriously hurt us>Be silent>Other (write-in)
>>6277028>Yes, I'm ok"Holy crap, are you Disney's™ Marvel's™ The Mighty Thor™??"
>Yes, I'm ok
The hammer in his hand crackles and shoots forth electric currents, some of it cascades and envelopes the mans body. You don't have to be some kind of expert on mythology to realize this is not only Thor standing in front of you, but also more clearly now it's the man in Bowersly's picture. His features are much less his own from previous though, whoever once inhabited Thor's abilities in that picture must have been nearly, if not completely taken over by the God himself.
"Yes, I'm ok," you tell the God flatly, he just nods at you.
Antonio is still choking within his grasp, flailing desperately to get out of Thor's grip. His friends stand idle and fear struck, one of the more daring ones you're not so familiar with comes forth and demands he releases his friend. Thor pays little attention to him and simply raises his hammer, a thunderous current coming forth from the sky and being absorbed by the hammer. It's shortly after he points the hammer at the other boy and he's electrocuted to a crisp, the shrill cries and begging coming from the boy stop after what only feels like seconds, leaving a charred body standing where there was once a living youth.
"Stay out of trouble," is all Thor says to you both, looking back and swinging his hammer towards the sky. It lifts him up and bursts him off the ground and into the clouds, Antonio still in his clutches, his fate undetermined.
The final boy from the group of Antonio's lackeys runs away screaming, his young, shrill voice echoing across the immediate landscape. Victoria nearly falls, passing out from the shock of the events that took place, you catch her and hold her close. "Thank you, Ethan.. I- I think we should talk, I need to tell you something," Victoria says to you. You release her from your grip when she gains some strength back in her legs.
The two dark birds closely watching the event unfold squawk at one another before taking flight back to the orphanage.

>Let's go back home
Part 1/2
You both make the decision to head back home to the orphanage. Before doing so, however, you both lay eyes on the charred body of the boy standing there. The smell of burnt flesh permeates in the immediate area of the now deceased boy. The other one who was with Antonio and the deceased had fled while Antonio was charging himself up.
"That man.. that God, there's no doubt that was Thor," Victoria tells you, you give her a side eye in response.
"I snuck into Bowersly's room at one point, saw a picture of a man who looked nearly identical to the one we just saw. Vicky.. we're ok for now, but I don't think the orphanage is safe, or ever was," you let her in on the info from the night you spied on Bowersly.
Victoria looks at you, then at the ground, and back to you once more. She seems sullen, defeated, and honestly? You're not so sure the state you're in is much different from hers at this point. You take Vicky's hand into your own, your eyes locking on to one another, "I am going to keep you safe, I won't let Antonio, Thor, or even Bowersly do anything to you," you tell her. Vicky smiles slightly at you telling her that, her hand tightening slightly within the grip of your own.
When you both make it back to the orphanage, you open the front doors and Bowersly is yet to be anywhere in sight. As a matter of fact, the entire building is strangely quiet at the moment. Not wanting to take any more time you both make a dash for the boy's dorm, empty, not a single soul here other than you both. It's strange, you've no doubt Victoria is thinking the same thing as well though after the events that just transpired it's hard to think of much else going on. Victoria and yourself take a seat on your bed, sitting close to one another, she takes a deep breath and sighs.
"Ethan, I've also had a similar thing happen to me. I had a dream walk with a God, Aphrodite, or so she told me," Victoria mentions to you. "Thing is.. I don't really have any powers, not like Antonio, Thor, or even yourself. In my dream she told me my gifts are to bring pleasure and beauty to this ugly world. She never specified how, or what I could do to make this happen. Honestly, I though the entire thing was some weird, hazy dream," Victoria finishes.
The way Victoria is looking at you, you can tell she's being sincere. Victoria is the avatar of Aphrodite, though she doesn't seem to have any powers similar to your own, her role in all this seems much more passive. The lack of extraordinary physical, or mental feats would explain how Victoria is able to go under the radar as far as being noticed akin to someone like you or Bowersly, though you're sure that man must know something about her link. Otherwise he would've had her listed for adoption at this point, right? The more this goes on the more questions you end up needing to have answered. At least one thing's for sure, Victoria is like you, and supposedly so are others here.
Part 2/2
Victoria brings herself closer to you, seated on the bed and lays her head on your shoulder. "Thank you for saving me, Ethan. I'm not sure what Antonio was planning to do with us, but I could sense it wasn't anything good," she says softly, looking up into your eyes.
A strange feeling wells up in your chest, PLEASURE, strange feelings reverberate through your entire body. Your chest flutters about as if a cage of butterflies had been released inside you, your face goes red, and your hands start to become clammy. There are droplets of sweat forming on the lines of your brow, a foreign feeling, and so suddenly too? You're unsure if this is the work of Victoria's link to Aphrodite, or your own true feelings. You've known Victoria since.. well since you first ever made it to the orphanage as just an infant. Her dark hair spills across your shoulder and arm, her dark green eyes beautifully reflect their surroundings when you look deep into them, it's a truly captivating sight looking at her.
You break the line of sight with her as she continues looking up at you, you look the other way to try and collect yourself quickly.

The rhythm of your heart crescendos as beat after beat becomes more intense and quickens the pace. You look into her eyes, than your focus goes to her lips, and in that split second your faces inch closer to each other. Your lips connect and you both share a deep, intense, and long kiss. Victoria grabs your shoulders and tries to pull herself in more, it's all in vain though, were she more up against you she would probably merge right into your body. After some long moments of this pass, you break away from each others hold and just sit there together smiling.
5 YEARS LATER
You sit at the dining room table of the orphanage, an elongated table that stretches across nearly the whole room to fit everyone who resides in the building. Next to is Victoria and some more strangers, some that've been here for quite a while and others who are new, all of varying ages and walks of life. Thinking back to that day with Antonio suddenly takes hold of your memory. Bowersly never did scold you, in fact it's been such a long stretch of time since he's interacted with you at all. Antonio has gone missing, with no announcement from Bowersly himself, most have assumed adoption though you know better than to see that as what may have happened to him.
It's been 5 years, you're turning 18 soon. That in theory should mark the end of your stay at this orphanage in the near future, you will be considered a legal adult and therefore be asked to leave and find your own way. Victoria is in the same boat as you, though over the years you both have slowly become keen to your newfound freedom as young adults. The passage of time has led to Victoria developing some unusual mental abilities, her appearance has changed somewhat, though it's not very drastic. Her hair color has changed to a deep brown, and her skin has grown not only a slightly paler complexion, but it's also become more supple and soft, the smoothness of it feels like a fine marble sculpture.
Change doesn't just lay in the field of your friend though, over the course of time you've been quite busy yourself.
