You're the leader of a small settlement of humans!

What makes you special?

> Magic. You're a powerful wizard, and the people recognize your powers and protect you.
> Heritage. You're from a dynasty of warlords and you're better at waging war than most.
> Wealth. You're the powerful man behind the throne and you care not for who is now the puppet..
> Divine Will. The gods willed you to become the leader and the people accepted it.

Your name is:

> Demeter
> Archon
> Phileus
> Migraine
> Write in

Your city name is:
> Farfrost (less people, but extra resources)
> Davos (a monster lives nearby)
> Kilua (the people are very mystical)
> Hempshire (less rebellious citizens)
> Write in

You have 4,000 citizens.

Your army consists of 40 spearmen and 40 swordsmen.

Your current capabilites are:

Food 3/10 (you can field 3% of your population as your army at most, or increase your pop growth from 1% to 4%)
Resources 1/10 (you can craft equipment for 1% of your population per turn, or build 10% of a tier 1 building, or generate 1 gold per each 1,000 citizens)

You have 100 gold. You can use 40 gold to speed up 10% of one tier 1 building.

If you are a wizard, you have a different stat called Mana, but gold is interchangeable with mana.

You do not know who are your neighbours nor what they are up to, but you do know there are some other rising powers in this region.

The Harsh Climate of Farfrost claimed the lives of 1,000 colonists, as they dug the earth to uncover its riches! Mines of Coal and Iron, plus veins of Gold were located.

You gained a +3 gold per turn revenue.

You have 3,120 citizens.

Army: 40 spearmen and 40 swordsmen.

Wizard Archon of Farfrost

Food 3/10
Resources 3/10

Army: 40 spearmen and 40 swordsmen. (80/90)
(each 100 foot soldiers other than spearmen cost 1 gold upkeep per turn, rounded down)

Gold: 103 + 3/turn

Mana: 0 + 0 (you can use Alchemy to convert gold into mana and vice versa 1 to 1)

You know one spell:
> Heroic Spirit (up to 100 soldiers random soldiers fight like elite and can defeat several times their number, costs 20 mana to cast in combat)
> Hellhounds (summon a creature with fire breath, 10 mana per hound, each 10 hounds have 1 mana upkeep, rounded down)
> Ghost Soldiers (summon a ghost army of 100 soldiers to fight for you, they disappear after combat. Costs 20 mana.)
> Fairies (summon a fairy capable of flight with a powerful ranged magical attack, 20 mana per fairy, 3 mana upkeep)
> Ghoul (summon a pack of 10 ghouls out of fresh corpses, creatures bitten by ghouls become undead upon death under your control. Undead creatures do not heal at all. Magical creatures cost mana upkeep. 100 mana per pack, 1 mana upkeep)
> Write in

You can learn more spells, but researching them costs thousands upon thousands of mana - so you're going to need gold or a direct source of mana before you do any serious research.

Your miners find an Ancient Troll Mother Nest deep within the caves. What do you want to do?

You build a Forge! Now you can train Swordsmen equipped with Large Shields that give them a bonus defense against ranged attackers.

You parley with the Troll Mother.

"Bold of you to come speak, human. I sense you have magic within you. Are you a wizard?"

"Indeed. Behold, my magic!", and you show her one of your hellhounds.

"For all that is holy, keep this thing away from my babies!"

Her "babies" are huge trolls stronger than a man. But you realize they aren't very smart.

If they mine us iron and coal, we will make them equipment.
Give them 1/4 of the finished goods from the iron (Don't tell them that).

> Go investigate yourself
Bring 20 swordsmen and 2 hellhounds.

> Improve resources
See if we can use a hellhound in the forge to help save fuel.

The negotiations with the trolls are ongoing! Roll 1d100 to determine if they will accept the terms of the alliance. DC 40.

You go investigate the rumors of a witch. You bring 20 swordsmen and 2 hellhounds with you.

Deep into the forest, there is an elvish community led by a witch called Samsara! She is a practicioner of Nature magic... but also Death magic!

What shall you do?

> Seek an audience with the witch
> Attack her settlement
> Offer a gift
> Demand a tribute
> Propose an alliance
> Propose a non-aggression pact
> Write in

You decide to employ a hellhound at the forge to save on fuel! The fire of the hellhound is not really hot enough to melt iron outright, but it leaves it red hot! The hounds are a bit chaotic and accidents might happen though... do you wish to keep a hound working on the forges?

> Yes, the risks are manageable
> No, it is too risky to keep a hellhound there

Bro it's gnome. Like modern humans have advanced laser guided missiles and if a single gnome can build a simple mechanical device then give it a little time and we'll have gnome made horrors beyond your very comprehension

The witch Samsara smiles slyly, her eyes glowing faintly emerald as she steps closer.

"So, mighty Archon," she purrs, "power is a lonely burden. Why not share a night with me, and I might bless your crops... or curse your enemies?"

Your 20 swordsmen shift uneasily. The 2 hellhounds growl softly, sensing danger.

What do you do?
> Accept the witch’s offer, seeking her blessing.
> Politely decline and request a formal alliance.
> Order your men to prepare for an attack.
> Attempt to learn more about her magic first.
