Last time you were on a bed, not in a different dream-like realm of existence — like you seem to be at the moment. You know how you ended up here, the real question is who brought you to the Distant Frontier. Whatever the answer might be, you consider this a very rude way to not wake up. Whoever is responsible will hear a handful from you!

Philonune commends you for realizing you’re in the dream world again! He wants you sharp at all times!

“Greetings, player.” Esperanza’s entity, Smithele smiles at you… between the last time you saw it and now, it developed some kind of body. It’s not clothes floating, but a bizarre blob-like creature. It’s out of jail after what it did.

“Do you always sleep without a shirt, player…?” Esperanza is fond of pajamas. You somehow managed to put your briefs on.

“You always call me at the worst times...” You aren’t happy it happened a second time. “And what’s the issue? You like this?” You raise an eyebrow, girls are fond of your chest as much as you’re of theirs.

“You’re uglier than ever before. Somehow.” Esperanza wants to puke. Ouch.

“Esperanza…” Her entity disapproves.

“L-Let’s not delve into this.” You cough. No paper bag with you... “Why did you call me? Need some help with something?”

“Yes, a survey.” Esperanza pulls out her notepad. “You recently participated in one of my activities, the so-called Go-Karts, and I need your input about its quality.”

“Cool. You’re committed to this, huh?” You see a spark in her eyes that wasn’t there before.

“Yeah, it’s amusing enough, but it needs to be so much more entertaining.” Esperanza can’t find the exact spark. “Or else I’ll have to scrap it.”

“Well, shoot.” You’ll go through this. After everything you’ve gone through, you won’t get hostile with the (potentially) amnesic girl.

If what the Kobashis told you is true, she’s your mom’s childhood friend…

What do you do?

>Tell Esperanza that Go-Karting sucks and should be discarded.
>Tell Esperanza that Go-Karting should be her main focus above all other activities.
>Tell Esperanza to add a cool new game. (Write-in.)
>Ask Esperanza about herself. Learn about the mysterious girl.
>Hint to Esperanza that you learned much more about her since last time.
>Write In.

Votes:

Votes are counted until 25 minutes have passed. This rule doesn't apply to the last reply of the day.
Votes that require a dice roll are counted until 15 minutes have passed, so we can speed up the process. Rolls are counted until 10 minutes have passed, so be prepared!

(NEW) Dice Mechanic:

We always roll 1d100s!
Since most people weren’t happy with the system of averaging top four rolls, we’re using best of 2/3/4 depending on the attribute a prompt requires. If Johnny is a genius and it’s a Knowledge based roll, he gets more rolls (Max. 7)! If he sucks, he gets less dice (Min. 2)!

When asked for rolls, I will specify how many you’re going to get. Rolling begins after it’s asked.

Rolling 100 is a critical! There are no Critical Failures anymore!

The difficulty of the roll is tied with the effectiveness of the action. In other words, the harder the option the better the result!

Don’t forget that at the end of the day, this is a story-driven quest! What the prompts are describing is more important than the difficulty of the rolls, for results in a fight.

Again, rolls are only counted when they are posted within ten minutes of being asked, so watch out!

You answer questions about your experience during the Go-Kart race! It was a positive experience that you’d love to repeat, so most of your suggestions were mild adjustments that may not be taken into account. Everyone’s experience is valid though, and Esperanza seems to agree to an extent! With that out of the way, you have an outlandish suggestion to make…

“A game named Mahjong? We’ll be looking into it.” Esperanza is truly open to any ideas.

“Any gambling game could be fun.” You say as you feel like the spirit of Craig takes over your body.

“Please, do not teach Esperanza about gambling.” Smithele hates these suggestions.

“Hm? You say you don’t like it? Hehe...” Esperanza grins like a gremlin. “More reasons to explore this. You hate everything even mildly entertaining.”

“I do not hate everything considered fun. I do not appreciate this label.” Smithele doesn’t sound that upset. “I’m guiding you to become the best version of yourself.”

“You hated every song we’ve listened to, especially Owl Face’s favorite. What was it? Dream Your Sunshine?” Esperanza believes no one should outright hate music. She might be talking about Mr. Won-Jae’s song you heard first when you visited him during the Bubble Arc.

“An enjoyable track.” Philonune smiles… like always.

“Corny beyond belief, regardless, my musical taste is unimportant.” Smithele says it with some vitriol. It almost didn’t sound like itself.

“You like music?” You wanna learn more about the Mysterious Girl.

“...Why do you ask?” Esperanza isn’t open to answering simple questions just like that.

“At this point I’m curious about you.” You shrug. “Learned a thing here and there, but I prefer to hear it straight from your mouth.”

“This is a perfect opportunity to hold a pleasant conversation with someone your age.” Smithele loves this idea.

“...I miss having you in the cage.” Esperanza doesn’t like being forced to interact.

“He earned your trust. Act accordingly.” Smithele reminds her.

Esperanza snaps her fingers. Now you’re wearing a shirt. “Bang. Your wounds distracted me.” Esperanza smirks. “Make it interesting, Player. You’re getting more out of this than any other participant.”

“Tell me about you, anything that comes to mind.” You try to sound nice.

“Sheesh, that same spiel as the old man? This pointless politeness makes you stilted. Just ask!” Esperanza hates being dragged into the spotlight. “You said you know about me? Show it! Impress me!”

“Fine, but don’t get mad at me.” You’ll stop being too nice to her...

“Nothing gets under my skin.” Esperanza crosses her arms. You don’t think this is true at all. If Philonune and the Cloak had proper eyes, they’d be rolling!

After so much effort, Esperanza is open to talk…

What do you do?

>Ask Esperanza about her relationship with the other judges. Name them to sound knowledgeable.
>Ask Esperanza why she’s in a coma. Shouldn’t she be able to wake up with so much energy she’s storing? Even Constance’s wounds are healing rapidly.
>Tell Esperanza more about your mother. You know for sure they’re friends. Jog her memory properly.
>“Your name is Esperanza Larsen, isn’t it? I met one of your relatives.” Maybe you can jog her memory by mentioning her family bonds!

With the floor open to any type of question, you should aim to get as many important answers as possible. Reveal as many of the mysteries behind Esperanza as you can…

“So what’s your relationship with the other judges?” You start relatively slow. “With Giorsal, Constance, Gerard, and the old man? Go in whatever order you want.”

“Very peculiar question.” Smithele takes notice of your knowledge.

“You know what drives me mad?” Esperanza crosses her arms. “All their names start with G! Giorsal, Gerard, Gordon… It’s ridiculous!”

“Isn’t Lazarus the old man’s name?” You point out.

“…” Esperanza isn’t aware.

“There are first and last names, Esperanza. You were taught this.” Smithele adds.

“Agh, I know, but the old man prefers being called Gordon. Who am I to refuse him? It's just his stupid name.” The amnesic girl replies. For some reason, you feel like Esperanza calls him ‘old coot’ anyway…

“There’s no Gonstance either.” You shake your head. There’s a better way to bring this up without saying the name wrongly…

“But she’s on my side, so I don’t count her.” Esperanza actually likes Constance.

“You two are friends, then?” You’re glad to hear this!

“Of course, we’re allies. She’s the only one not interested in messing with the game. A true arbiter of fairness.” Esperanza is a rules person. “Albeit, too pacifistic. From the little I’ve seen anyway.”

“That’s Constance, alright. She’s a good girl.” You will always admire the little mummy’s principles!

“Yeah, yeah, she’s a saint and all that. But that’s not all she’s about.” Esperanza feels like you’re being reductive. “Enough of her, I can tell that you know her. So why delve in the known? It’s drab.”

“Then let’s talk about her exact opposite…” You propose.

“The bitter old man? He hates my guts for stopping his plans with the anomaly. I took responsibility for the entire incident, thank me later.” Esperanza speaks of the Bubble Incident. “I thought we had a good balance: Constance’s kindness, the Old man’s brutality, and my impartiality. But now, I need to get rid of him. He’s the most shameless disruptor.”

“Esperanza.” Smithele scolds. Esperanza looks annoyed.

“Now you don’t want me to be honest? I’m carrying this conversation! What else do you want?” Esperanza furrows her eyebrows.

“The other two don’t help to balance things?” You can tell Giorsal’s hands are full...

“We have different jurisdictions. Players like you don’t have any idea of what goes on behind the scenes. The anomaly we dealt with was the biggest one so far, but there are plenty more. Enigmas are tricky runts. Your world isn’t meant to hold them.” Esperanza reveals.

“But you think those two are doing a good job?” You ask.

“You can say that. I don’t pay attention to everything they do.” Esperanza doesn’t care.

“You like them?” You need to know.

“Our president is nosy as all hell, but I was told she means well. So I have to believe it, right?” Esperanza doesn’t hate Giorsal. “At least she has good reasons to mess with the game, even if she’s going too far. Many of the players are plain scum.”

“Knowing her, she’s probably worried about you.” You shrug.

“That’s what everyone says. You, Owl Face, Constance, Patches…” Esperanza finds the observation annoying. Smithele feels annoyed, he has mentioned this too.

“What’s your relationship with Patches?” You half-chuckle.

“Patches? He’s not so bad. We steer from each other’s paths, he’s busy trying to hide his involvement with other players, and I don’t care to involve myself with someone you can’t trust a word from. Lately, he’s been more concerned about my well-being for whatever reason. I plainly ignore him.” Esperanza doesn’t hate Gerard… Which comes to you as a big surprise. “And yes, he’s the only one who failed the Owl man’s test.”

“Hmm..” You wonder if it has anything to do with what he learned with Fiora.

“Don’t be mistaken, all but Constance are afraid of what I can do. I’ve been here from the very beginning, and I’m going to see this until the end.” Esperanza sounds ominous.

“But they can put people into comas, and you can’t.” You argue.

“...I-I’ll learn. How difficult can it be if Gerard can do it?” Esperanza crosses her arms.

“Fair point.” Honestly, you can’t picture the old man doing this either… “Since we’re being open with each other, I have another question to ask.”

“Spit it out.” Esperanza doesn’t like how much you take your time.

“Your full name is Esperanza Larsen, isn’t it?” You wonder.

“Sounds about right.” To Esperanza, this sounds like it fits. “Esperanza Larsen…” There’s some pride in her words.

“...” Smithele is in disbelief! He has no idea, and never thought anyone could find out!

“Then I met one of your relatives.” You drop the bomb.

“A relative…?” Esperanza opens her eyes wide! “Who?”

Welp, you’re halfway there. You have the feeling you’re going to bring someone here with your answer…

No better way to show that you’re on her side AND that you learned about her than reuniting her with her blood relatives. You don’t think you’ve seen hope in her eyes before, so you can’t put out the flame within Esperanza!

“Well, two. I think. Family trees are complicated.” You aren’t sure if Odetta is directly related to Esperanza, but she’s Jaylene's cousin, and blood ties are overrated anyway.

“Tell me now! I asked who!” Esperanza doesn’t like her time being wasted.

“Their names are Jaylene and Odetta. You don’t have to guess the surname.” You adjust your glasses.

“Where can I find them?” Esperanza needs more instructions.

“Can you not just use one of your judge abilities to detect them?” You wonder.

“Are they Enigma Users?” Esperanza thinks this might be even easier if that’s the case.

“Uhm, no.” You shake your head. “I believe they have a lot of spiritual energy, but don’t quote me on that.”

“...Anything else you can tell me about them?” Esperanza’s enthusiasm is dying in front of your blobby eyes.

“They live in this city…?” You aren’t even sure about this, Fiora got a house at the outskirts, right? Maybe Odetta is living with her? It didn’t sound like they did.

“One has your exact haircut.” Philonune adds. Esperanza’s eyes are sparkling!

“I can already feel a connection…” Esperanza grins.

“No, wait, she changed it shortly after.” You shake your head. Jaylene always disappoints…

“T-The connection is waning. Ugh! This is ridiculous!” Esperanza sounds frustrated. “I’ll have to use my abilities for something so meager? Are you certain that I’m related to them? I-I talk to lots of people, I’ll know if you lie to me.”

“…” Smithele knows that Esperanza is bluffing. She’s not a particular good liar either...

You and Philonune take a short moment of time to remember Jaylene’s Esperanza sized ears. “Without a doubt.” You say in unison.

“Then I shall use… the orb.” Esperanza makes appear a green crystal ball in her hands! Same quality as the one many fraudsters have employed for ages. The distinct color is very Judge-Like. “Describe them to me.”

“You have pen and paper?” You’re ready to show your artistic rendition of the two.

You draw Odetta and Jaylene to the best of your abilities! You add the hints too in case Esperanza needs more clues.

“What a crude rendition of these hideous humans.” Smithele is disgusted at the sight. That’s mean.

“Hey, they’re cute…” You think they’re charming girls.

“Can’t say the same about you.” Esperanza sighs.

“C-Can you find them?” You change topics back to what’s important.

“It’s just a matter of when.” Esperanza lifts her orb! She’s prepared to impress!

With their Bounty Posters (Positive) ready, Esperanza orders her Flying Referees to look for the sisters. You expected a cooler display of her powers, but you gotta say, watching through the orb is pretty cool. Very fantasy-like, and the Jellyfishes pick pretty cool angles. Esperanza might be training their cinematography. You and Philonune approve.

Eventually, the task force finds Jaylene (at Matilda’s Dojo) and Odetta (at some random Hotel). As soon as they’re detected, they’re brought here into the Distant Frontier… You all give Esperanza center stage to address her supposed family. You will only be noticed if you decide to intervene.

“Where am I…?” Jaylene wakes up in a different world.

“Doesn’t look like a nightmare tonight. Cool.” Odetta wakes up from her slumber. She has cute pajamas.

“Huh? I-I never thought I’d be here again…” Jaylene recognizes the world between reality and dreams!

“I take that back, Jaylene is here.” Odetta slaps herself to make herself wake up. “Ay! That actually hurt! What the fuck?!”

“Greetings, strangers! I’m…” Esperanza pauses mid-introduction. “...What am I to them?” She forgot to ask you.

Esperanza is looking in your direction. You gotta provide an answer.

“You’re their aunt.” You whisper.

“Oh.” Esperanza is rethinking her introduction.

“Hey! Whatchu doin’ here?!” Odetta notices your presence. You gesture to her to cut it out and focus on their brand-new aunt.

“Quiet, your aunt is speaking! I have power over you!” Esperanza proclaims. Then gives them a second look.

“A-Aunt? You don’t mean...” Jaylene is putting everything together.

“That’s the goofy hairstyle right to a tee, of course she’s the one this moron told us about.” Odetta remembers the makeover you gave to Jaylene.

“Sorry for bringing you over so suddenly. Esperanza couldn’t wait.” You apologize.

“Stop apologizing so much.” Odetta never liked this about you.

“I-It doesn’t bother me. As long as I’m being of help. I-I heard everything you’ve done for Oliver, and it’s my turn to give something back.” Jaylene wants to return the favor. “You’re my father’s sister? You’re Judge Esperanza?”

“You are fully aware of who I am?” Esperanza doesn’t like it.

“Only tangentially, we haven’t heard much about you.” Jaylene explains. “Only two days ago we learned that you… exist.”

“Convenient. Too convenient.” Esperanza is having doubts. “This isn’t some kind of trickery?”

“…” Philonune and Smithele fully believe she’s messing with you all. You’ll have to take her by her word, though.

“Ehem, sorry, dear. It’ll take a second.” You walk behind Jaylene and expose her jumbo sized ears! “See?!”

“Yah! They’re smaller than in the drawing!” Esperanza can’t believe it. Smithele facepalms. “What does this mean?”

“W-What drawing?” Jaylene is confused. You don’t think they’re gonna appreciate your artistic rendition of them...

“You have the exact same ears. That’s the point. I could point out the nose and the jawline too, but you know, gotta go for the easier detail.” You say.

“Your massive elephant ears.” Odetta nods. Esperanza lightly zaps her with a beam coming from her finger. “GAH! Dreams aren’t supposed to hurt…!”

“You’re the freaks with small ones.” Esperanza won’t hear otherwise. She explored the Bubble dimension, she had to see that everyone doesn’t have those massive frisbees attached to their heads! “Hey, this means we’re not related…”

“Thank hell we are not directly. I’m Jaylene’s cousin.” Odetta smiles.

“We grew up together. She’s like a sister to me.” Jaylene protectively holds her sister’s arm.

“Still on a lower tier of importance.” Esperanza crosses her arms.

“Always exciting to learn I’m considered a second-class citizen again.” Odetta can’t help but chuckle.

“I must test your trustworthiness, player. I’ll send you to him.” Esperanza isn’t playing around; she’s going to send the grinning girl to Mr. Won-Jae…

You didn’t bring the Ghost girl along to be sent to remedial classes! You must intervene before it’s too late!

“She’s alright, Esperanza. We teamed up together on a jailbreak to rescue political prisoners, which included Jaylene. Let’s say you’ve got yet another reason to dislike Gordon. Besides his last name, of course.” You don’t want Odetta to go!

“Gordon is responsible for keeping us separated, niece?” An obviously bothered Esperanza asks Jaylene. “This is unacceptable.”

“The people in charge of the prison kept me inside a painting. S-Somehow...” Jaylene explains.

“The old bastard was turning people into huge monsters. Nasty stuff. You should look into it.” Odetta grins.

“…” Esperanza gives Odetta a distrustful look.

“You don’t trust me at all, twintails?” Odetta feels like it’s natural.

“I don’t appreciate being manipulated.” Esperanza furrows her eyebrows.

“It’s a suggestion! I want the best for everyone! And the demise of my enemies coincides with that!” Odetta laughs.

“I-It’s not like that anyway, truly Odetta means well!” Jaylene says.

“Yeah, I’d vouch for her with my life!” You add.

“W-What are you saying…?” A flustered Odetta finds you way too corny!

“Me too!” Jaylene doesn’t hesitate to join you.

“C-Corny morons.” Odetta facepalms.

“Anyway, one of the monsters tried to kill me.” You add.

“Do you all understand the severity of your accusations? He’s one of the five avatars of balance.” Esperanza’s entity, Smithele, has to intervene.

“We got a story to tell, up to you two to believe us or not. It’s not like we’d be offended if she sits on her ass doing nothing all day.” Odetta is not forcing anyone to do anything.

“It’s not hard to believe. The Gordon family is full of monsters.” Jaylene has her own convictions.

“Monsters? Didn’t he save this country from foreign and internal forces? I saw it plastered all over the country. He also saved some guy named Economy. Don’t know why he’s important, but everyone loves him.” Esperanza recalls from her own experience.

“W h a t ?” Odetta has no clue what the OG Big Ears is talking about.

“Don’t tell me you fell for the propaganda inside the Bubble…?” You put two and two together. Did Mr. Won-Jae teach her anything of value?

“N-No, I’d never!” Esperanza didn’t expect to be manipulated. “What’s propaganda?”

“In this context, just imagine they are lies to bolster someone or an idea.” You keep it simple.

“Then you two are Odetta Propagandists?” Esperanza deduces.

“We’re not lying though.” You clarify.

“You can shut down the whole premise from the start, you know?” Odetta doesn’t want a cheerleader team.

“Anyway, this isn’t about throwing the old man off his wheelchair, but trusting Odetta!” You say.

“Fine! Welcome to my family, second niece.” Esperanza pats Odetta’s head. The ghost girl is not happy.

“This is great!” Jaylene is jubilant.

“How about I bring Gordon’s severed head as a present?” Esperanza wants to celebrate!

Hold on…

“Partner, I don’t think she’s kidding.” Philonune whispers telephatically to you.

How do you respond?

>“I don’t think it’s the time for that. How about you learn about your nieces instead?” No need to devolve into violence!
>“Shouldn’t you discuss this with the other judges?” You feel like Esperanza has a vendetta against the fossil.
>“Punish him, don’t kill him.” You don’t want everyone to enthusiastically demand for murder!
>“Up to you to decide, girls.” You won’t interfere. Uhm, they’re probably going to do it, aren’t they?

>"Actually, before you get his head, I need to get my own revenge on him first..."
>"He was the only Nay vote I got in a cooking contest. I baked my masterpiece, a recipe taught to me when I was in the Bubble that I developed into a fantastical dessert. Wait, you can’t let her kill the old geezer! He was the only Nay vote you got in the cooking contest! It was your masterpiece, a recipe taught to you when you were in the Bubble that you developed into a fantastical dessert. The raisin of a man didn’t even try it, instead telling his nurse to eat it in his steed. And he voted NAY after she definitely did!

“I don’t think it’s the time for that. How about you learn about your nieces instead?” You say. GORDON WILL TASTE YOUR REVENGE. You swear it on your cooking skills as a man of Ando! “I still wanna feed the old geezer my cake and see what happens when a miserable unempathetic prick like him eats it.”

“…” Smithele has decided that he hates you with every fiber of his blooby being.

“Are you god damn serious right now…?” Odetta can’t believe this is your hold-up. “Killing him straight is a better payback! Do you think he deserves the cake? Think!”

“It’s not enough!” You retort. You won’t be manipulated!

“What can I say to convince this moron…?” Odetta is clueless on how to deal with you.

“I’m so lost right now.” Jaylene has no clue what you’re talking about.

“The world is complicated, Jaylene.” You say.

“I-It doesn’t sound like it.” Jaylene shakes her head.

“Anyway, learn about your nieces, Esperanza!” You focus the conversation to what matters. “This is what this is all about!”

“Very well…” Esperanza snaps her fingers to make appear a tea table ready for snacking. “You must entertain me properly, nieces. I want to know how much we have in common.”

“Right…” Odetta isn’t sure if she’s suited for this.

“A-Ask away!” Jaylene doesn’t know where to begin.

“You’re making ME do all the work?” Esperanza already made cookies!

It’d be better if you guide the conversation…

What’s the plan?

>Make the girls talk about their school experience.
>Make the girls talk about their childhoods. Their parents mostly.
>Make the girls talk about their jobs. The ones they totally have…
>Write In.

What do you do after you wake up?

>Cuddle with the woman you’re with. Relax for the day…
>Go to school, you animal! Stop being a lazy prick!
>Return to the Prison Party House! You forgot to come back!
>Write In.

(Last Reply of the Day, we continue when we can! Tomorrow, probably!)
