i had a friend discord but i had to ghost everyone after repeatedly embarassing myself
to be honest after being in /soc/ "lonely people" and "shut-in" threads, i dont think contacting people just to "make friends" is very conducive to forming actual relationships
i dunno, maybe i just suck at conversing or ive had bad luck with people who dont chat despite posting in such threads

Even if I do find a discord server that I think is good, after a couple of weeks the novelty starts to wear off I realize that I only really enjoy talking to one or two users there.

I agree. I feel like the best friends I've made have just been by chance, not seeking people out. The issue is that there are few places irl where you can organically met people so turning to platforms like discord makes sense but rarely leads to anything significant.

yea ive met a lot of great people via /3/ (rip) and /agdg/, where theres a common topic
/soc/ and /r9k/, its just people saying "hi" and then awkwardly exchanging some funny images
