Actually effective protests primarily disrupt the powerful elites you're protesting against and are neutral or beneficial to the general public, like the Japanese bus drivers who protested by still driving their routes and not collecting fare so the bus company didn't get paid, or when Gandhi shut down the British coal mines by getting everyone to take the day off for a religious event at the same time.
Ineffective protests (what the bankers and elites want) accomplish nothing or disrupt the general public while having zero effect on the entity you're protesting against, like blocking highways for Just Stop Oil or the Canadian trucker protest where they just sat around rolling coal and blaring their horns all day.

The entire nation of India. All of the American Civil Rights Movement. The French Revolution did nothing despite being very violent and allowed Napoleon to seize absolute power. Most people who succeed at a coup are historically at extreme risk for being violently deposed themselves.
