>>81494658>How so and how is it different from the rest of the world in that regard?Culturally its very introverted, no small talk, no talking to strangers. You stay in your bubble, and do not bother others. To be respectful of others, is to leave them be. I've read that Finnish people are usually seen as very introverted or distant to those from outside Finland.
>Aren't you supposed to be the happiest country? How do you suffer in Finland? We are the happiest country, but that is not measuring joy. Finland is good in education, no homelessness, social safety net, safe, and that kind of stuff. In Finland you don't worry about going homeless if you lose your job, or getting shot by the police, or getting stabbed and robbed, as the government has very good social nets to make sure its citizens bounce back always.
But happiness? No, people are described as "content" here. But not happy, might be a cultural thing. A ton of Finns are suicidal and depressed, especially the youth. Most of the year is dark and cold, you might not have any friends, you clock into work or school when its pitch black and a snow storm, you clock out when its pitch black and your face is freezing. You get in your car, drive home, then sit in your 300 square feet old commie block like house. You drown yourself in alcohol, tobacco, sitting in your house, its 5am and its already pitch black outside. So you go on your computer or watch tv.
We have a term for this kind of housing, they are called "Suicide studio"
