It's pretty common to repress your sexuality out of shame and then realize you're into it really. You always noticed fat more than say feet, for example, becausw you're just coded that way. A footfag would have grown up thinking sandals were embarrassing or some shit but you were probably weight conscious. It's more complex than this but that's the broad idea.
