Buying Xbox and Playstation? Ads spamming even at the consoles' menu, with the ads even being totally unrelated with video games like when Microsoft was shilling for Coronahaux vax at Xbox's menu. Buying YouTube Premium for supposedly removing ads? It still shows you ads.

What's next, ads at "smart" fridges and cars? Ads at wedding and funerals? We're one step before seeing ads when we sleep like it was satired at Futurama. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! I! WILL! NOT! CONSUME! YOUR! PRODUCTS!

My first android phone was Samsung. And it was crap from the beginning. Even after sending it to the company's official service (it was crappy back then) it was still having its issue. I never bought another Samsung phone ever again even if others like it. Even with other brands and with models that had positive reviews like a ZTE one I was still unlucky. From all brands I've tried till now Xiaomi was the least awful one and the only one that still works after 5 years (although at some point I had to do factory reset because it was freezing a lot).

Why are Android phones so glitchy? We rarely had issues like these at old school phones before Android ones. Sure, they had much less features but they were actually working and even with often usage they lasted for days without charging them. Too bad you can't use old school phones anymore for phone calls. And no, the modern phones that are supposed to be like the retro ones are still Android thrash that are inferior even comparing to old school phones.

I have a flip phone and my desktop computer has adblock, some of this is just a little bit your fault for letting your tech do that to you. I agree completely though with your sentiment, I don't engage with new tech/games at all because of how pervasive this shit is. Internet connection has been a thing way before "smartphones", especially in Japan. The first time I used internet from phone was from my oldschool Sony Ericcson phone that had wifi feature for accessing internet through wifi. And you could save internet pages so you could read them anytime when you were offline.

Mobile phone addiction was already a thing at the late '90s and 2000s even if said phones could only do stuff like sending sms, making phone call and playing simplistic games like Snake. The more advanced these phones were getting the more addictive the users were getting. The difference was that only a certain percent of people were mobile phone addicts, mostly teens and young adults that had many friends to talk with. And women since women were always spending hours at phone calls way before mobile phones.
