I've had my driver's license for 8 months but no opportunities to drive.
Haven't been behind the wheel since I passed my test.

i still only have my permit and haven't practiced for my license, i've forgotten everything about driving, what the signs mean what to do, everything. it's gonna be impossible getting a license.

I worked a job where they had me parking trucks and driving a forklift, with no driver's license. was a good time.

You never really forget it, once you get back behind the wheel it'll come back to you. I hadn't driven for almost 4 years then had to suddenly one day. No problems.

When I just had my permit, I was basically forced to pay for driving school because I wouldn't be able to learn and practice for the road test. It was expensive but a good investment because I passed my road test first try with only 10 hours behind the wheel

Maybe, but I forget the emotional/physical feeling of being able to cruise down a road.
Would it be retarded to rent a car for a day and just drive? I have no experience with car rental places, not sure if they routinely try to fuck you with extra fees or something

i just got it recently too to prepare for getting a job and eventually having to buy a car
thats the only reason i got it i've been driving for 5 years without a license without issue thanks to being in a 3rd world shithole

I'm 29 so I should be good. I got coerced into this license because my dad insisted on having someone else in the house with a license, but still just takes the car all the time. Drives off at 10 AM to go to the cafe, comes home at 1 AM, rinse and repeat.

I just want to go on some rides to clear my head, maybe drive to the nearby river instead of taking a bus

got my 2nd test on the 28th, I fucking hate being in europe they make it so fucking hard and expensive to get one, literally harder than a masters degree because one mistake or the examiner doesn't like you and they just fail you, nigga last time I got 0 minors, drove fine, did a forward bay park, checked I was in the lines yep all good because im not retarded, asked to open the door to double check, yep all good, cool. Exited the car park following the signs, no one else around. Examiner dick told me I failed to park properly, nigga you LITERALLY said it was fine, all because they have to maintain their gay little pass fail percentages so months to wait again and more money to waste just to hopefully RNG dice roll and get lucky, fucking instructors other student, some young attractive woman hit the fucking curb on a parallel park and almost caused a crash on a roundabout and he STILL PASSED HER.

fucking bullshit ass DVLA mafia just LET me drive, they literally give a years license to foreigners who have a license in their country, I could be african and do some bullshit driving ''test'', get an african license and drive in the YOOOOKAY for free.

It used to be like that in Canada too, but I think they changed to this automated system where they check boxes in a tablet and if you generate enough bad stuff the system decides whether you met standard or not, instead of the instructor.
That being said, the system will auto-fail you on certain things if checked so if you pass a crosswalk before a pedestrian completely exits and the instructor checks that box for failure, you can get an auto fail.

If the driving system could actually get bad drivers off the road, I wouldn't hate the test requirements so much but even with strict tests, you still get retards on the road who never stop at stop signs, cross over 2-3 lanes on a left or right turn at an intersection, refuse to share lanes of traffic with people and say "my lane" etc

I wouldn't even mind this janky bullshit IF I could get test dates lets say 2 weeks later, it simply wouldn't matter because id just spam it out in a matter of weeks but its like months between because its so saturated with people, to circumvent new drivers spamming it to get a license have a minimum amount of hours logged so its just experienced learners going in. Its so fucked right now because you have AI bots stealing test slots, instructors taking them and selling them at a higher price etc its a nightmare. One small fuck up and youre looking at more months of waiting for a test date and you have to constantly look for cancellations, there are apps for it but you have to be on it within 10 seconds or something or someone will have taken it. I feel as though driving shouldn't be this RNG and gimmick based.

Oh you mean the drivers test.
The road test is not standardized so they can ask you to do anything.
However due to shit budgets and lack of regulation they usually dont make you do a "road test".
What I did was borrow my parents' car and the DMV made me do a three point turn, park in a parking spot, and explain which direction to turn my wheel while parked on an incline and decline.
That was it.
Renewals dont make you do tests again until you are retirement age iirc.

I've noticed it online and I don't get why. I mean, I understand requiring a driver's license for jobs that involve driving. Jobs that are impossible to do without driving. But why require it for desk/office jobs? It makes no sense. Glad that over here in Europe we don't have this nonsense. Some people like me just don't want to drive and don't trust ourselves behind the wheel. Doesn't mean we can't be good at literally anything else. Funnily enough, I'm extremely good at racing games and I kinda like cars, except for driving them IRL that is... Wanted to become an F1 driver as a kid but of course there was no money to get me into karting and all of that stuff.
