How do I make internet friends? I just want people to voicechat with while I play video games or draw or model. I don't wanna join a discord because I'm looking for one on one friendships not interested in dealing with any gay drama or predefined group dynamics. My interests are anime video games the standard nerd stuff.

You just get a Discord, then either one of you send a friend request. You don't have to join any of the servers. I have people I talk to one on one only and not within Discord servers.

it's no longer "hey wanna call?" it's "huh you wanna call? nah join VC1 in my server"
there's less and less individual interaction between people
at best you'll have a private channel in some discord server where you're still likely to be seen by someone who'll ask to join, making you move to a public VC
don't get me wrong, there's still some people out there who are happy to hang out in individual calls
but in my experience there's less and less of them each day
the ones i know who are still happy to just call and hang out are people I met in real life
but I did meet some people online who I would do one on one calls with
I either got along with themm well enough in public VC's for us to start DM'ing and calling eachother
or I met them through voice chats in games like escape from tarkov and squad

I went through the same shit. I used to have a big group of friends but after a break up with a girl in the group they all stopped taking to me. I tried joining random discords but theyre all full of pre formed cliques and it feels like sitting at the lunch table full of kids you don know. Even tried those omegle like chat sites to try and talk to someone and all I got were guys fishing for girls to talk to and add that would skip you the second you answered you were a guy. The internet fucking sucks now for making friends. When I was a kid in the 2000s it felt like I always had a full friends list and people to hang out with. I dont know what happened. Hell, I used to have a group of friends I from 4chan back in the Skype days. We would watch movies together.
