You have it the wrong way around, adrenaline is what keeps the guy moving after being shot, taking a breather after a hard blow or pain is the normal non-adrenaline induced response.

One thing that always got to me was how in videos where someone is actually getting shot and killed their body almost always tenses up and/or spazzes out. It's not some romanticized movie thing where they immediately cease to exist. The life left in what is still functional of their body is seizing out of them one last time. Truly horrifying.
