>>81532124 (OP)looked over some old cartoons, photos, posters, flyers, magazines, etc. with my brothers and i'm kind of upset at how many different things families used to do before social media took over.
i remember my older sister getting super excited to go to our local amusement park's (since discontinued) annual halloween event, or on a whim going to a water park or a beach on a hot day. my subdivision used to have a huge block party every year right before the school year started before some of the older folks retired and moved away. i'd go on fishing and camping trips with my uncles and cousins or week-long road trips with my family. we used to do picnics and evening trail walks.
but zoomers don't do shit now. i got to college and spent a lot of my time studying/working without recreation and it wore on me, so i started promising myself at least one weekend out of town a month. worked pretty well, but i was really lonely.
