You have more agency than you realize.

no, i will be happy and free, and will choose to continue to do so, while making those around me stress-free and supported in their freedom of choices and pursuit of happiness

Depends what you mean, but in some contexts yes. Unlimited freedom is a myth, being bound by a credo others you wish to associate with share is a requirement for the highest level of freedom. Some freedoms including the freedom to experience certain things only exist because of rules.

if i had freedom and was NOT happy then yes i would trade my freedom for happiness, being happy is realistically the only thing that matters in life. "free" people kill themself a lot more than happy people do

Lose your free will and become an NPC who's decisions, goals, actions are determined by social pressure alone.

Then, no. Even though I get the feeling there's a correct way to think, a correct way to act, and I'm not doing it.

This is something that happens no matter what we choose, you have no say in this. You are always bound by your milieu. The way to maximize freedom is choosing the associations that align with your needs.

trading off the little bit of debauchery I can barely have at times in this world for happiness? of fucking course sign me up please please

If by freedom you partially refer to one's ability to acquire knowledge then I really don't know

but also like if you are happy without having freedom you probably get what you want without disrupting your free will cus like not having freedom doesnt mean wanting it and not having, you simply may not want it, so thats okay too ig
