Aircraft is mostly used to deliver long range missiles and glider bombs from a safe distance. Boots on the ground would be needed more than ever, as someone has to operate the fiber optic drones with limited range and someone has to hold positions and move equipment otherwise it's not even occupied territory. There would be a lot more infantry on infantry combat than they had in the 90s when you could have absolute control of the skies.
Drafting women isn't a joke or a meme either, it's seriously under consideration in Ukraine, Israel is already doing it although they didn't YET deploy them in combat roles and democrats were pushing for it hard last year. Almost every democrat in congress voted to include women in the selective service and some republican voices also supported the notion.
In the past, women were exempt from service due to the realities of human reproduction, but nowadays most women don't have children so they're going to keep probing at this taboo until they get what they want.
