I mostly play death metal but I also enjoy playing finger style pieces such as

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QYfnN_KamBc

about a minute into this one, its a hard one. I find both finger style and dm to be engaging.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5SNHMt-Dk1E

but you can also have the two worlds mix

guitar is literally impossible to learn.
>decide to learn song
>painstaking process that takes weeks
>finally learn it
>"well, guess I can play that now"
>promptly forget how to play the song and start from zero with the next song you learn

It's just autistic fine motor skill practice, I think you literally have to be autistic to enjoy the process of guitar.

I don't think I've learned a song in years, I just write my own music most of the time.
I do have a problem with forgetting my own songs sometimes if I don't record them.

How long would you say it took for you to get to the point where you can compose?

I started on bass guitar when I was fourteen, reading tablature. I learned maybe five or ten songs on bass and U was already writing my own little bass lines. Then I started playing guitar a year later and learned a fair amount of songs on guitar which gave me a feel for chords and music theory without ever studying that. I have just been slowly honing that over years
I have always had melodies in my head though, i used to hear music my imagination composes

Also I never work on technique much, so I can't shred or anything, but I have played some lead guitar in bands I have been in despite that.
I was more obsessed with getting the sounds in my head to fruition rather than having a pissing contest over speed.

I will try to post a bit of my work, but most of it is just recordings on my phone when I am drunk so I can remember the music when I am sober lol (am alcoholic)

here's one I wrote back in the winter, I started drunkenly goofing off halfway in there.
Most of my best songs aren't even recorded, because the really good ones get burned into my memory as soon as I write them (you KNOW when something hits right) I don't need to record them.

I might go record one now for u...

i've been drawing a while. it's nice to see some improvement from time to time, though it's hard to stay motivated to draw consistentyl. discipline>motivation, i guess. it's fun. some people like looking at what i draw, somtimes

Apparently it's a nothingburger (though some studies link it to autism or muh adhd) but I think it's a nothingburger too since I only noticed it when I got my blood taken a few months ago.

I PLAY GUITAR BUT I KIND OF SUCK AT IT. I'M DEFINITELY NOT THIS GOOD >>81548024 BUT IF YUO WOULD RECOMMEND GOOD EXERCISES FOR PRACTICING METAL I'LL DO THEM WHEN I CAN FIND MORE TIME

IT JUST SUCKS BEING AT THE MIDDLE LEVEL OF GUITAR WHERE IT'S VERY DIFFICULT TO BREAK INTO THE NEXT STAGE AND YUO FEEL LIKE YUO JUST DON'T HAVE THE TIME AND ENERGY

as with all creative endeavors you must learn to love the process itself my man. A man who enjoys walking will walk farther than a man who needs to walk to reach a certain destination.
