i want to believe in god but if you think about it for 2 seconds, its obviously cope.

>christ died for your sins
>but only if you believe he did
???

>muhammad brought the holy quran as a revelation
>took 23 years and each chapter is relevant to his life at that moment
???

and buddhism is literally just nihilistic hinduism.

and hinduism is just idolatry

even if a god was present why would you worship him/her when they are evidently perfectly fine with widespread suffering for no reason

because the suffering, firstly comes from human free will, and if not, then its a test from god. and secondly that suffering is temporary, and he will make things right in the end.

why would i respect a being that enjoys putting others through horrible events simply for a "test". that suffering can last your whole life, i wouldnt call that temporary. what if he doesnt make it alright in the end? what if there is no afterlife?

maybe you cant appreciate the afterlife truly without knowing pain. and your whole life is a mere 80 years if youre lucky, if the afterlife is eternal, then yes, your life here is temporary and insignificant.
>what if he doesnt make it alright in the end? what if there is no afterlife?
then maybe you can hate him, but really we dont even know if hes real so this is just one form of belief.

either way if he does not allow you to be happy in the "afterlife" simply because you did not worship him for the pain he put you through then he is not worth my respect. i will never worship a god that is seemingly this full of himself

As a Christian, I'd argue that explicit knowledge of Jesus isn't required to go to heaven. If you do what you know is right when you examine your heart of hearts, that's doing what he asked, and if you do what he asked, you do his will.
In today's day and age, it doesn't even help to tell people to "know Christ," because it's too easy to conflate truth with the gun-totin', abortion-hatin' American Jeezus. It really is more useful to just remind people that evil is bad and that you shouldn't do evil, even to people you think are evil, because if you do evil back, you will be evil too.

Atheism and religion are both absolute beliefs: either there is or there isn't. Both are unbending and dogmatic, and both have adherents who fight tooth and nail to talk past each other. Agnostics and the "spiritual but not religious" are both more open-minded.

It's mainly just the Abrahamic ones

Around the world, most ancient societies worshipped their environment (europeans) or their dead/ancestors(african) or the world and existence(asia).

The ultimate cope is probably overdosing on heroin and then right before you start feeling bad a nuke goes off 10 in from your head. Religion is a cope though. And I say that is a Christian man. I don't think a man can operate faithless. You always have faith in something you can't prove.

Lmao fucking filthy Muslim stop trying to astroturf and shove your dogshit into everything. and the Quran is most definitely trash written by monkeys.

Muhammed was a pedo
KICK A PISSLAMIC IN THE BALLS
PULL THEIR VEILS
EAT PORK IN FRONT OF THEM
PISS ON THEIR LAWNS

this Ramadan I'm going to make sure to walk outside and order fast food to go and eat it in front of as many Muslims as I can

>Is religion the ultimate cope?
Yes but in a positive way, not in the way you're probably implying: a weak minded person deluding themselves.
Everyone copes.
You are no different.
Some cope with sense pleasure.
Others with status.
Some with fame.
Some with escapism.
Some with consumerism
Others with political power.
Some with nihilism
Some cling to ideologies.
Religion is better then all those in that the truly devout can handle serious setbacks and keep going. You think a nihilist can? Lol. They can't even cope with not being born a Chad.
An atheist/progressive/commie clings to the notion that a worldly paradise will be built by the experts/activists/revolutionaries but it never comes . The truly religious can live in this reality as it is and be happy.

Are you blind or stupid? We're in that now, or at least as far as someone from 120 years ago is concerned.

In 1905:
>diseases ran rampant, children died daily, rabid dogs roamed the streets
>most people didn't have indoor plumbing, you got water from a well with a bucket
>air conditioning was 60 years away
>half of the country didn't have electricity, radio, or telephone
>no FDA yet, stores sold you spoiled/tainted meat all the time
>being orphaned was normal, parents die to disease or just abandon children because it's too expensive
>diarrhea, infected cuts, and the flu were all potentially fatal. maybe 50/50 chance you survived the flu

We're gods living in a techno-paradise compared to that hell. I can tell a program to make any porn I want and boom, it appears like magic.
I can watch any show in history on a whim. I can talk to someone across the globe. I can fly to Hawaii for a week for fun. I can get there and just whack off on the beach wearing a Quest 3 headset with my favorite VR porn. Even if I get fucking HIV or Hep-C, there's medicine available to keep my alive and healthy.

And you want to wait until you're dead to have fun? Enjoy whispering to a dead rabbi for no reason while I live it up.
