Sometimes the unattractive/"weird"/alt ones will try to groom you rather than the other way around. It happened to me at least, there's a neighbor's kid I used to babysit for, she's pretty cool and we got along well. When she got older (still a kid tho) she stopped needing to be babysat but we'd still see each other around the neighborhood and chat occasionally. Pretty harmless stuff but eventually she started trying to like guilt me into pity dating her (she isn't "ugly" but not a model either and I guess younger guys are really mean about girls' looks) and I felt bad about turning her down so I tried offering her money or gifts as a way to console her but she interpreted it as "me bribing her to not have sex with her because she's so ugly" and I felt bad so I started giving her weed for free and thankfully it didn't hurt her academics or fuck up her head too much
