I love how easy it is to meme americans into debt and possibly fucking themselves over
>Just go to college, bro. Any degree is better than no degree
College degree becomes devalued as a result
>Whoops, we really meant just code/learn stem bro. Everyone needs coders. It's the ticket to the middle class
Just for coding to become oversaturated
>College is a scam, bro. Just learn a trade
I give it a decade before wages start stagnating/dropping

You're completely right, but having the degree opens a lot of doors. Not only on the job market, but in other areas o life. It's a sign of status. For example, plenty of women wouldn't consider dating you, if you don't have a college degree. Plus even if you get your degree, but you don't learn shit, you still have to be resourceful and somehow figure out a way to pass all your classes.

old, but I don't give a shit.
Better than what I'm currently doing. I've capped out in my current trade and the only way to be more successful is to start my own business. I don't really want to do that though.

>Things will just fall apart. People come and and go. Systems come and go. Innovations, improvements, breakthroughs, and even just logical upgrades of the technologies are inevitable.

Sorry, is this US citizen computer engineering grads or jeets and chinks that apply and beg for visas all the time?
I'm still seeing a shortage of computer engineers. I'm a team lead at a pretty big DoD prime contractor and my wife works at HR and I've literally seen the applications. Postings up for months and no one qualified is applying, it's just tons of foreign people graduating from US universities but can't work here without a visa. Literally can't hire them as they'll never get a clearance.

>>81563259
I still don't get how he "cheated". Most companies now have local LLM at 4o quality, at work for all this stuff including code assist. Did he pass all his in person exams? His project worked? Then it's good. Can he maintain it? Well that's why nothing is a solo project and there is tons of bureaucracy with morning SCRUM meetings.

If I were to give any of you advice it's to stop chasing money. Just go to school for what you actually enjoy. I've had a few stupid faggots that were smart but fucking hated coding and wouldn't shut the fuck up about their hobbies and I just thought, "man, maybe you should study that and work in that instead of wasting our time". Pretty much everyone I work with spends some time at home thinking or tinkering with Orins or local llm's and that sort of thing.

OK, but if someone had the skills you're looking for, why wouldn't they just start their own company? I would wager that you're barking up the wrong tree and should fill in the gaps with startup firm contracts.

Because we are looking for fresh graduates. The only requirement is you have a related degree and aren't a creep during the interview. If you mean "start your own company" in the west coast style snake oil salesman bullshit app, yeah go ahead. If you mean actually getting to construct something that works and isn't designed to fleece people, then no I don't think you'll get the backing to integrate or pitch your idea anywhere.
Even if that was your goal, you're better off making the connections at a prime contractor before you leave to make your own company and start exploiting the small business BS that is required for many large contracts by making easy stuff for cash and having that pay off your bigger projects.

I know the average normie thinks west coast does software or tech well, but it really doesn't and hasn't since the 80s maybe. Practically every research paper of note we're seeing too is either from Europe, China, or the US midwest and northeast coast. If it's some new tech worth integrating, it's the same thing.

covid. doesnt matter if it was real or not, but what happened in 2020? the entire fucking world went on lockdown, had to stay inside, and got really fucking bored. so, literally TENS OF MILLIONS OF PEOPLE all started to learn to code at the same time. genius, right? stuck inside, nothing to do, cept what you can do at a computer....fun, a hobby, might get you a job!
except EVERYBODY DID THIS AT THE SAME TIME. this was obvious, 6 months into the pandemic. at the year and a half point you should of known this even if you were in a diabetic coma the entire time.

at the year point my brothernlaw decided to get into computer security or something, and he tells us "every single class/course/school/online program is completely full, with wait lists".

Code-niggers get no sympathy for me because it was only 3 years ago they were online bragging about doing nothing at work all day while making six figures.

They were also the most whiney crybabies cunts when WFH ended and they were screaming on all corners of the internet about it, I couldn't browse r/redscare without the most spoiled cunt imaginable in a comfortable white collar position whining about having to actually go to work.

Has everyone forgotten the early 2020s when they were smugly implying they'd the only employed people lording over everyone else due to automation? You can easily find posts from back then implying they're a superior breed of person.

I don't even think the job market is that bad for them. I wouldn't be surprised if tech workers are just doing their usual whinge.

Don't forget wagecucks having to work 8 hour shifts muzzled with a mask got ragebaited with "Day in the life of a Twitter employee" videos. There was a perception at the time, which was somewhat exaggerated but had a grain of truth, that these people get to fuck around all day and get paid so much more.

Like of course many of these people would retrain immediately to become part of that class.
