Is there any benefit in going to a bar alone?

Depends on the country I guess. Here I know there isn't, people go in groups so chances of talking with people and not being awkward aren't great, and they're aimed at dancing so get loud or at sports watching which it's mild fun but whatever you chat about ends when the match ends lol

I go to bars alone all the time. I've chatted up a lot of boomers, and very seldomly a girl will get flirty. Think I've even had swinger couples get flirty with me, but nothing came of it.

mostly I have a few drinks, eat some food, and then drive home (probably just pushing up against the legal limit lol)

happened two times and the second time, after they left, the bartender suggested that he thinks the guy was pimping out his gf. (was an middle aged white guy with a somewhat younger asian woman, they both looked like they might use drugs from time to time but not full blown junkies)

i've rarely been to a bar that's just a bar, but there's other kinds i like going to alone, even when i could go another time with a friend

some are vintage/pinball arcades or music venues, and some are just gay. punk shows at worker co-op cafes are more my kind of gay though. i don't drink.

its nice going to a bar thats not particuarly busy, having a drink and relaxing particuarly if its post work and a hot day or something.
i duno if i'd want to go on a busy social night

I've done this a lot but obviously I'm me and you're you so I can't tell what's going to happen.
Go in with low expectation, if you're fine with just being someone else's novelty for the night then why not.
You sort of get out what you put in, be open and honest without spilling too much spaghetti and leave room for others to do the same, curteously bow out when there is no interest.
Might have fun, if not then what have you really lost other than your time.
That said, might want to think over why you're considering this and if it's really likely to be the best course towards that goal.
