I would say I am a bit more extreme than the average neet, I've only left the house 5 times in 7 years. 3 times hospital vists, twice because my parents forced me to see them.

The funny thing is I was pretty good besides my mental health. Escaped an abusive home at 16 and by 21 I had my shit together. Then I had a work accident on a construction site, was mis-diagnosed to only have an ACL tear but was actually much worse (I was basically a cripple for a year) when I finally got surgery I still couldn't walk plus gained a ton of weight.

This all made me more and more reclusive, until eventually I inherited my dads schizophrenia. Schizo combined with severe social anxiety and being 350 pounds has made me a recluse. I have missed 2 weddings for my siblings, never go to a family gathering, and have had welfare checks sent on me multiple times because my family thought I was dead.

I didn't really have a choice in it. If I could somehow lose the weight I might have a chance to get out of it, but its a mix of being fat and crippling social anxiety plus mental health issues. On one of the occasions I went outside I had someone laugh at me which made it worse. If I never got injured I would not be in this position.
