How do you do digital art. What software/apps do you use? Do you use the touchpad, mouse, etc? I got a Windows laptop for the first time and I tried to use MS Paint, but I could barely draw a stick figure using the computers touchpad. For the people good at digital art, how do you do it? I find it hard to comprehend how some of you draw awesome stuff using your computer.

>hand draw your stuff and scan it in. "Adjust levels" and it'll look good
>draw with mouse because you're lazy. You won't be able to adjust the pressure of your brush and it takes time to get used to
>screenless tablet. You can draw without your hand blocking the way. You can get a nice big size for a reasonable price. Takes some time to get used to
>screen tablet. expensive

Clipstudio w/kamvas 16.
I used to draw cringe ocs on ibispaint on my phone as a kid, so it's easy to navigate drawing software. Lots of googling and tutorials. Lots of references too.

Photoshop, Illustrator, Krita, and ArtRage depending on what I'm making. Illustrator's my main one but I mostly do UI elements.

I use a Wacom Intuous Pro. I have a Cintiq Pro as well but actually seldom use it, strangely I find it easier to draw when I'm not looking at my hand.

I use clip studio paint, it's a nice balance between convenience and harder to master features. I draw on a Wacom drawing tablet, and (this is where it gets silly) I use a DualShock controller for the shortcuts lol
Before being able to afford the tablet I drew on my phone, with my finger, and I used medibang paint. And of course I still paint traditionally with guache, india ink, acrylics, watercolor...

It sounds like you're yet to learn the basics, maybe focus on traditional art first since it's more accessible. Good luck on your journey!

i use clip studio paint with a screen tablet. both of those things cost a lot of money. a screenless tablet is a lot cheaper, but imo spending the money is worth it. the drawing program you use doesnt really matter, any program will be hard to get used to at first. you might wanna look into just getting an old tablet or ipad to draw with, probably the cheapest option. good luck friend!

Stop giving art so much mental weight. Simply take it in for what it is. Art, creating something. Your first major attempts are gonna be ass, but that's expected like learning anything else. I started 6 months ago i kinda got over this hump after month 1. Just keep drawing and start getting used to it. Eventually you'll find it fun

Ive just used paint.NET with the pencil tool and my mouse for years. I've gotten pretty good at drawing this way. Though recently I picked up a pencil and paper and it's just so much better and my skill translates 1:1. Save yourself the nightmare of digital art and just use pencil and paper, trust me. It takes minutes to accomplish with a pencil what it takes hours to accomplish with a mouse. Art tablets and programs made specifically for drawing are also clunky, miserable ewaste trinkets and basedware that are godawful to actually use

I used to only use Photoshop and a Wacom tablet but then I was sick of having to bring a bunch of shit with me every time I'd go to a place to draw with my friends, so I got an iPad a few years ago and just use Procreate. It's much better for drawing and painting than Photoshop is. Plus now I can sit on my couch and sketch without having to fuck around with cables and shit.
