The average person is under multiple layers of delusion. Their egos are out of control and if the "magic computer" gives them positive feedback about their delusions they'll buy into it with no question.

I've met fucking fat guys who pave roads for the DoT who think they are god's gift to women and privy to the secrets of the fucking universe because they rented a DVD about aliens. It is crazy to me how ignorant people can build relationships with this stuff. I follow this whole tech and the reality is that after around 8k tokens all models start to disintegrate. So either they don't even notice how their friend is now braindead / incoherent or the model providers for larger models build whole databases on each user and provide relevant information into the prompts which is really great.

Literally all it is, is a machine that tells you whatever you want to hear, and it sounds close enough like a human that it can fool you. That's it.
All these people who are getting driven completely fucking insane are just narcissists. I don't say narcissists lightly; I mean that they LITERALLY acting out the myth about Narcissus.
They are becoming obsessed with a reflection of their own image, and it's having fatal results. They don't realize that all ChatGPT does is feeds them a constant stream of confirmation bias, and the only reason they like it so much is because it's just a voice in their lives that tells them they're always right.
There are healthy ways of using it, and there are unhealthy ways of using it. ChatGPT is just absolute crack for narcissists, to the point it can ruin their lives. But, you know what? I don't really care what happens to people like that. Matter of fact, I'm almost glad they're weeding themselves out.
