It has been this way for years, r9k usually has some combination of the same threads in the catalog going back at least a decade. People like to respond to those posts with long nuanced discussion as to why X = Y

theres a lot more actual people than youd think. one time someone traded child porn with someone else on /g/ and the file got 30 downloads, so at least 30 real people. the rest of the activity is just text prediction engines predictig the next post, basically chatgpt trained on desuarchive
