I should go off my meds. I'm currently in a state of purgatory. My meds are enough to stop me from having a mental breakdown, but not enough to cure my mental illness to the point that I can function in society. I have no job, no friends, no hobbies, no interests, no hope. I'm an empty shell of a person. I'm not really living, just existing. At least if I go off my meds, I might finally go crazy enough to end myself.

I'll go through a few months of insanity which will either end with me killing myself or harming someone else. I'm either going to be dead, in a psych ward, or in prison.

Whats your issue? my meds literally chemically lobotomized me and I was lucky enough to be in a position where I could safely stop taking them. Still need to rely on antipsychotics though, short term, just in case I start to crack

I hate existing like this. This is only a half life day after day of boredom. I don't even have any fucking hobbies or skills. I want to try video editing but I'm too retarded.

Severe OCD. It's chronic and incurable. I'd be willing to let them try experimental therapy on me such as zapping my brain with electricity, anything that might work.
The medication I'm on is enough to stop me from having a full on mental breakdown, but not enough to give me any quality of life.

What kind? I don't have full blown ocd, just small compulsions which make me tweak, can't imagine how bad it must be to be unable to function without meds. Chronic disorders fucking suck, got anxiety disorder from my dad and now I can't stock shelves without throwing up, its pretty pathetic looking

Dude these people are nihilists. They don't want to think they can over come their issues, so don't waste your time with those people. They're going down and it's not your job to save them.

idk if there's a specific type, it manifests in lots of different ways. It's completely debilitating though.

It might not be 100% impossible but don't pretend its not insanely difficult to "will" yourself out of genetic, chronic mental issues.
>>81595270
My small compulsions is centered around the classic, being clean. I avoid going outside because I'll have to shower again when I come back in, its only tedious mostly, rare that I have a mental breakdown.
Whats the worst episode you've had?

Diagnosed schizo here. Been diagnosed for 13 years and i live a kinda successful life. Dont do it, OP. Mental meds create a big ass dependency and abstinence, if you quit them cold turkey they will fuck you up. Talk to your doc about it and maybe ask for a prescription change. Meds dont cure mental illness, they just help you stay in control, secondary effects are a bitch tho. Im sorry to inform you you probablu have to deal with this the rest of your life, but it gets better. Stay strong OP. Stay away from drugs, only good overdose is femboy overdose.

Small incremental changes to create habits that add up over time, that's all it is.
Only, I've never seen a single nihilist that was able to do it, because they don't even try, they just immediately scoff at the idea. So it's just waste of time.

Ok so here's a realistic assessment (based on my own life)
If you start right now, it'll take about 3 years to see significant results and in about 5 you'll start surpassing most peoples energy/happiness levels,
You basically have to do something that makes you feel like youre making some progress no matter how small, it could be as little as saying "I am going to improve" 10 times, as long as it's something. Over time these habits get stronger like a snowball. You'll probably be stuck doing the the low level habits for years.
Obviously things like exersize, eatting right drinking water, etc, help (in that they don't make you feel better but they stop you from feeling worse).
Don't fall into the trap of taking on to much when you feel motivate (because that feeling will end).
How to deal with mental stuff:
1)negative thoughts can easily be overiden via mediation (if you do it properly) especially the idea people are judging you.
2)negative emotions are harder and require noting meditation (what people call "mindfulness). One interesting thing to mindfulness is your reaction time becomes like a cats (I can catch falling knives and that's kind of stuff)
3)schizo issues require visualization meditation to overcome. I won't get into it because you probably don't have it.
Meditation is boring so do a tiny bit and expand from there.
Change is very slow for a long ass time and then suddenly very rapid. However long you think it'll take it'll take three times longer.
Good luck.

you need to think of your meds as a temporary aid to help bridge the gap between total dysfunction and managed illness
start writing and journalling ong it helps
>>81595306
>Meds dont cure mental illness, they just help you stay in control,
totally true and so was everything else you said
use the stability the meds can provide to make changes to your life to try and get better
you can improve and manage your compulsions and problems even if you can't cure them

>I'd be willing to let them try experimental therapy on me such as zapping my brain with electricity, anything that might work.
the sad truth is that like they said the only treatment is prolonged effort over an extended period
you have to force yourself to make changes and stick with them until the habits form and your brain reshapes little by little, which it does do
i don't know the specifics of your ocd or what habits might help but i am still certain that taking the time every day to write down your thoughts and trying to analyze them would help
you must recognize how irrational your behavior is but you need to internalize that
