Taxes are often viewed as an oppressive tool of feudalist societies, but they aren't inherently a tool of oppression. Taxes are supposed to fund infrastructure that benefits everyone. A fair society is beneficial to everyone, and democratically deciding what infrastructure the public wants and needs is the ONLY way to guarantee that everyone has the opportunity to succeed. After all, great inventions can come from anywhere. Taxes aren't stealing, not even Reagan himself believed that.
