I read the Michael Malice book "The White Pill" and it's about the Soviet Union, and I didn't know about the Ceausescus before that. Absolutely wild time and place to be alive, and their end was actually pretty satisfying.

That does kind of sound like what they can be though. Quite stereotypically East European. I still quite enjoy interacting with Romanians though. They're very welcoming even towards a weirdo like me.

It's honestly a pretty fun story. Dude went to North Korea once to see a parade honoring Kim Jong Il and went "damn, why can't my people be like that?" He then decided one of his first moves would be to ban abortion and contraceptives while not investing in childcare for whatever reason, which led to all the orphans who grew up in squalor because of him and his wife growing up to topple and overthrow him.
