what should i do to spend time with my father? all he seems interested in is mowing the lawn, watching car auctions, and not much else. i help with our family business when i can and always ask if he'd like to do something like the movies or just anything, but he always seems uninterested. he's nearing 75 and i'm fearing i don't have a lot of time left with him and would like to make some memories before he goes.

Just stalk him a bit, should be easy to find out what he likes.
Mine got addicted to standups so off to see a fatso telling bad quality jokes we go

Does he like music? All dads like some kind of music, even if it's gay. Maybe ask him about Elvis.

He likes old rock bands but he's too old to keep up in large concerts for them. I think he'd like going to a concert but it'd have to be one he doesn't have to walk a long way into. Last time he went to one he nearly passed out and got fucked up from it.

I guess I got to figure out some places he'd like to go. I was thinking when this heat wave is over I might try to take him somewhere. Maybe like a car museum or Horsehoe Curve since he liked that. I take him to job interviews that are out of town just so we can make a day of it.

Yeah, we used to do that once a week in my last semester. That was just a few months ago so I'd like to pick it back up here now that I work from home.

What are you, 45-50? You haven't figured out how to spend time with your own father by now?
Spend time with him doing what HE wants, not what you want. Learn about the cars being auctioned so you can talk about them. Ask him about the cars. Then he will enjoy spending time with you.

Unless he just says "Shut the fuck up, I'm trying to watch this."

22 so I'm done with school and college and just working now. I was a dumb teenager so I was shut off even from my family and feel so bad about it. I want to make up for lost time.
