There's some differences in the manga and the anime. I guess it's a bit like oreimo where he wanted to go for a clear ending but had to keep it ambiguous for the public. Personally I think it couldn't last, everything they shared was destroyed, like the park.

I think they could build something new and make better memories. Ultimately it's supposed to be an unconventional love story with a sweet, good ending
