The only sitewides I've gotten were on ck of all places and usually for the silliest reasons on that board.

Board specific when you break a rule for that specific board like no canmwhoring on /r9k/
Sitewide when you break a sitewide rule like "trolling" or "racism" or whatever the mods feel like you are doing wrong at the moment.
