Honestly, this is the type of shit making me apprehensive about blue collar work. Breaking my back for Mr. Shekelstein and OSHA's safety regulations not being followed? A recipe for disaster as the individual in OP's video unfortunately discovered.

it would be funny if it wasn't so sad.

I've been in similar positions. unloading a few metric tons of pipe with crusty old straps and standing right beneath it like an idiot. just too lazy and complacent to move. you can see him get nervous and start to move away but change his mind for whatever reason. it's scary stuff.

I wonder if your workplace actually reports accidents. Last place I was at they just didn't report most accidents like a guy's foot getting crushed. A long time ago I worked at a place where my coworker started having a heart attack so I called an ambulance. My supervisor yelled at me later for calling one since that meant he'd have to do paperwork. Anyway OSHA's days are numbered and USCSB is gone.

probably not usually, theres some guy who once stuck a metal pole down a shaft with a still-running auger in it and he ended up getting decked on the side of the head and nobody said anything about it

dude, if you're at a job site and a situation is unsafe and you don't want to do it because it isn't OSHA compliant, your supervisors are walking a very tight rope on what to do about you, because OSHA will back you up and come down hard on them, and you can ruin their whole company if they retaliate. You really only take risks that you find acceptable.

Yeah but how does OSHA know or prove it even happened if your manager plugs their ears and goes "LA LA LA LA" and pretends you're a fucking idiot? Hmmm.

Worked at a place that had table saws, and they kept the guards for them locked in a manager's office since they thought the guard made putting boards take too long. And whenever someone reported it, the guards would magically reappear for a few shifts then go away again. Anyway, like 2 fingers a month got cut off there. I swear there was one guy there that had like 4 missing fingers from cutting them off on a table saw too.

Ive done blue collar work for years in different environments. If you arent in a union youre immediately fucking up. Dont even consider any form of blue collar work if its non unionized.

Poor guy? Him and the other fucker should've not been on truck while loading that shit for exactly that reason, you can keep load somewhat centered up until it's few inches above bed. Only then those fuckers jump on truck and position it, crane puts it on truck, job done. No need to make minced meat out of your dumb workers

with enough training and experience even dumb workers can become good workers.
problem is if they keep dying they'll never reach that stage
also, ethics.
