day 2 of taking prozac, I feel like I have more energy but now I feel kind of numb I guess, I still feel a bit sad and of course I can't stop thinking about my ex but now I don't feel like I'm going to collapse and start crying when I think about her so that's good I guess.

I'm going to play megaman x6 today

Prozac takes 2 to 3 weeks to actually start working, you're feeling placebo more than the med right now. You need to reduce systemic inflammation via diet, exercise, and sun exposure (20-30 minutes, wear sunscreen if you're in a high intensity area). You also need to update bayesian hyperpriors (see Friston's work), yours are currently depresso-genic so e.g., think happy thoughts and do activities that induce happiness after exertion of effort. Prozac helps with these things but on its own is not hugely effective.

but every time I start taking them again (because this isn't the first time) I do feel a bit of a difference in my energy.
>You need to reduce systemic inflammation via diet,
I fast, does that count? I only eat like once a day the rest of the day I just drink coffee and smoke to calm my hunger.
> think happy thoughts and do activities that induce happiness after exertion of effort.
that never works for me and I'm depressed for real I've been depressed all my life, there are times when it becomes too much and I start taking prozac again (yeah this isn't the first time)

Placebo can be very strong, it's not a bad thing
>I fast, does that count? I only eat like once a day the rest of the day I just drink coffee and smoke to calm my hunger.
Smoking is inflammatory. You need to eat fiber to feed your microbiome. There's signal exchange from the gut to the brain, an unhealthy microbiome leads to bad signal exchange and inflammation.
>that never works for me and I'm depressed for real I've been depressed all my life, there are times when it becomes too much and I start taking prozac again (yeah this isn't the first time)
It will work if you stick with anti-inflammatory habits on top of it. Think of it as averages. If your average thought is negative, your brain learns to predict negativity. Over time, positive thoughts/experiences will lead to your brain predicting positivity. If you've been depressed for 20 years, you won't get undepressed after a month of positive experience, it takes a lot of time and effort. Prozac helps by increasing neurosteroids which makes your brain adapt quicker, but you still need to exercise regularly and do things that will shift your brain from negative to positive thinking.

Take anything else than ssri. The long term sides are bad.
Take some gabapentin or lamotrigine if you want to feel numb.

at this point is just depression, I used to have social anxiety and ocd but I don't struggle with those anymore, but I've been depressed since I was a child, but there are times when it gets worse and I start taking prozac again and then I stop taking them

Ah I see. Try vitamins. Zinc, magnesium, vit c, vit e, vit d, b complex, fish oil selenium, melatonin for sleep.
If that doesn't help try some buporione might work better for the depression than the Prozac. Lamotrigine is also approved for depression in bipolar might try that too.
But in general it is better to stay away from drugs whatsoever and try to cope otherwise. They can create problems down the line.

Taking a bunch of vitamins is a waste of money and most of the ones you mentioned are pointless other than maybe D. No one is low is C, E, or selenium in the US and B complex is pretty unlikely. Literally all you need to do is eat a varied, whole food diet that includes legumes and greens. You can throw in dairy - preferably via live culture, unsweetened yogurt - if you aren't getting enough protein and calcium too. There's also no real evidence that any given class of anti-depressant outperforms others. They all work the same way (increasing BDNF), the described MoAs are not realistic for their effect size and timeframes. The most successful strategies are routinely medication and therapy and lifestyle change, the first two making the final easier.
