Try being more receptive, it took me so much to understand that I wasn't invite not because people hated me but because I looked like someone that wouldn't enjoy parties

ask if the coworker you like most (or dislike least) is doing anything for July 4th. even if you're not an American. perhaps especially if you're not an American
