For all our past, it has always been that the man has to provide and have everything for the woman. This wasn't very difficult, as women didn't have a lot of rights back then.

But now that things are more equal, where women are even starting to make more than men on average comes a problem. Our cultural views haven't changed to fit this, you still have to be of a higher level than a woman, more income, confidence, status, everything. Its still expected for the man to be the "provider", which has become incredibly difficult as women are now more educated and thus make more money, and thus want people even better than them.

The average woman is more educated than the average man in the west, but she still wants a man who is more educated, more income, more confident, more everything. Unfortunate

Female mammals have spent the last few millions of years being bred largely by males of higher strength and resource value than themselves. It will take another few million years for their expectations and desires to change.
