I have loving parents and they just scream and bitch at me a lot. The parents you see in anime that are all wholesome don't generally exist. For the most part they'll still find ways to humiliate you and make it seem like everything is your fault even if they're loving and are most probably better than the rest.
So yeah, probably better than having abusive parents but I think most people don't tell their parents they love them because of all the negative things they have done (they're only human after all, under a lot of stress too from work and managing kids).
