This is an incredibly stupid idea.
It's true that a lot of people lie to themselves to protect their feelings. However, this idea has also given rise to the notion that, just because something sounds bleak, it must be true.
That's retarded. But every edgelord on this website falls for it. They don't seem to be able to admit that one can be comfortable in their current misery, become addicted to self-pity, and develop a world view that, at first, makes reality seem hopeless and bleak. But, actually, this seemingly grim statements just serve as a way to enable one's self pity, anger, and sense of injustice/righteousness.
