Most "arguments". The simple reality is that arguing about almost anything is arbitrary, all that actually matters is whether or not you have the access to force required to make your desires reality. If you have that access to force, you act, you don't argue.

Majority of arguments is ill-informed people shouting at each other. Mount stupid and all that. By the time you acquire enough actual knowledge on a topic to be an expert who can decisively win arguments, you also acquire enough life experience and wisdom to realize uniformed people arguing on the internet cannot be reasoned with regardless of how informed you are, and talking to them is pointless.

Any argument where it is obvious at least 1 side doesn't give a shit what the truth is.

When you have like 2 scientists working on a project and discussing a hypothesis, it is different. They each accept the basic underpinnings of the science due to their years of study and are talking about some obscure technical detail.

However when you have people fail to acknowledge even the middle school tier basics of a subject, then you know the "debate" will literally go nowhere. Even if the other side is honest, they are stupid for not realizing it, or at least changing their tone and saying "because you refuse to accept this basic fact of the matter, I have no choice but to assume this is bait, so I'm done, sorry".

In some cases an argument is for an audience, so the honest one will continue to debate to make it more clear the other side is full of shit, but this is rarely the case on the internet or a conversation between 2 people. An intelligent person will quickly realize this is just a power struggle, that the talking is pointless, that it boils down to darwinism and strength not debate and principles like rationality or a mutual desire to arrive at the truth.
