If 18 dollars an hour still isn't enough to live on your own than I genuinely hope AI fucking decimates all of the economy.

depends where your at. I live like 30 minutes north of a big city and I make about 19/hr and I'm living okay. I definitely budget where I can but I save a couple hundred every month at least and can pay for my rent, food, subscriptions, etc.

Assuming you work 40 hours a week, that is $720 a week, $2880 a month, and ~$33,000 a year, accounting for some unpaid leave. You'll owe $3,740 in federal taxes and then anything from $0 to like $5,000 in state and municipal taxes which leaves you with, in the worst case scenario, around $25k. You should be able to live on your own anywhere in the US for this, although it might be in a one room studio in some cities.
$18/hr is less than minimum wage in Washington.

I just want a UBI to make work 'optional', and Keynes' 15 hour work week.
Considering technology and mass-outsourcing to foreign slaves, it's fucking absurd that the 40+ hour week is still a thing.
We were supposed to have more free time, not be turned into wage-slaves. Those greedy 1% cocksuckers.
