You can wonder without being child-like, you're just insecure about your sincerity in a world that deeply despises it. Everything has to have a punchline, everything has to be pointless and ugly and lesser than what it first appears to be and people wonder why they're so miserable. They respond to a world under the grip of evil by constantly telling themselves that there's no good to be found. You will never ever become a different person to who you are by maturing, you will just want different things in more emotionally complex ways and be less naive.
