I didn't mind the isolation as much as I minded the physical pain of cystic acne, and being fat made shit hard like I couldn't climb trees anymore.

very well put. every time i leave my house to walk my dog i can see the way people stare at me like im a subhuman freak. i shower most days of the week, i wear deoderant and cologne, i comb my hair, i shave my face, my clothes are all clean and dont smell or have stains yet people still are instinctively repulsed by me. why? because im unattractive. if someone locks eyes with me on the street and i smile at them, 9 times out of 10 theyll either look away as quickly as they can or sneer at my attempt to be courteous. i suppose the good part is that people rarely go out of their way to speak to me or directly tell me how ugly i am to my face (though it has happened on multiple occasions) since i would rather just keep to myself entirely whenever im in public

So I fucking jerk off and travel and game all day, I write and I read and watch shows, I cook and bake good food for myself, I go to movies alone and I go grill in parks, and I sleep in on Sunday. I donate to other people who have cursed lived (Syrian refugees) and I just installed a godly SkyrimVR mod pack for my quest3 and 4090.

Bleak fuckin existence but it beats being a pretty opiate addict who died at 18. I know a bunch of those from the town I grew up in. All the pretty drug people commenting on their Facebooks "rip heaven gained another angle"

what languages did you learn? i currently have a lot of time on my hands and have been considering trying to learn one as the last time i tried was when i was in school, which i was forced to partake in to and didnt enjoy at all.
im torn between japanese, german & maybe korean or polish. very generic picks i know, but theyre all the languages of nice, high trust, clean and relatively safe countries and i listen to a good bit of german music and watch anime on occasion so even if i dont move there theyll both be a benefit to me and learning languages is also good for keeping your brain sharp ive heard. i know of all 4 japanese would probably be the hardest and german the easiest, but i think when it comes to efficient language learning what matters most is your determination to actually learn the language rather than just how closely related it is to english. id like to hear about your experience though

I won't lie I was basically homeless because my parents kicked me out at 17 and so I had to join an NGO because I had no money or car or anything in new england. I chased a meal and a shower and bed for the last 12 years.

It was grunt work but rewarding. We helped a lot of people. I use(d) a lot of mnemonics and flashcards (flashcard apps work, I'm just from the 2000s). Building tangible memories with words helped a lot, I can still remember going down a bumpy road discussing with a syrian how the word for life, snake, and wall sound the same in Arabic (hyaa, hyaat, hiyaa basically)

If I had a child today I would teach them Chinese, but considering the thread we are on, I'm not having kids any time soon

thats very sensible. i wouldnt learn it myself because the tones & writing system are something i dont think id ever be able to fully wrap my head around no matter how hard i tried but as a child picking up languages is like second nature. its also probably the most useful language to have in current year excluding english
