The biggest deciding factor in student success is family dynamic/family structure. Stable, two parent households produce better learners with higher success outcomes later in life. It's a definable fact we can point at with decades of evidence at this point. If a race happens to find themselves predisposition to certain household dynamics then that's beyond my paygrade to notice or care about.

I love my job, I genuinely can't see myself doing anything else. This year I was elected to be the union president so as a result I'll only teach half the day while doing president stuff for the remaining half, I may resign if I find it impacts my ability to make connections & form strong bonds with my students. I don't think I'd go as far as to say all boys can't stop acting gay but it certainly is the case that male students can't keep their hands to themselves. Even my moderately behaved students engage in horseplay while girls tend to just sit to learn. It's as easy as keeping them physically separated though.

It comes up whenever I do this thread but I don't really go along with the thinking that this generation is uniquely stupid. Everyone thinks that their current crop is the worst they've ever had, but kids are kids.
There are several other unique factors that go along with this generation though, such as

>Student referrals are at an all-time high
>Staff referrals are at an all-time high
So not only are students missing more school than they ever have before, they're also brushing up against school policy more than they ever have before, and the teachers are of a lower quality than students have ever experienced before. There are genuine generational factors that are coming together to make this a uniquely poor time to be a student in public education.
I take a lot of pride in taking the time to ensure all my students do not fall prey to those listed factors.

Depends where you are, but generally it's the same in the United States: 4 years of college, starting your junior year you're put into a specific teaching program. You'll be student teaching once a week until your senior year, where you'll do student teaching every day.
It sucks. I don't know a single other field that operates this way other than maybe doctors, but they'll at least get paid. Most student teaching programs remain unpaid.
After your degree, you'll still need to be licensed by the state. These exams vary wildly depending on the state, spend the money for the study guides and practice exams.
You'll be set after that. Coaching is just dependant on whoever wants it. Generally it's available depending on the quarter.

Maybe, but at least as far as my own education goes, there was nothing politically charged at all ever. If the teachers were lefties, that still didn't present in the curriculum in any way. It was all very objective stuff. Math, questions about what happened in books in English class, reading about photosynthesis in science, supply and demand in economics. Even classes that easily could have injected political ideology never did so; again we just learned terms and definitions like filibuster.

I think the opposite, there's never a dull day. Each day feels fresh, exciting, ect. When that magic wears off and we do find ourselves in a slow day it's a good change of pace-I love being in the middle of a project where everyone knows what they should be doing so my own direct instruction is minimal.

Forgive me, this already happened to me and it's over now. I never recovered from this time of my life and I just think back to it a lot. The curriculum was absurdly vague, it had only what subjects/units that the class was supposed to be on pace with and when, clearly I was too autistic and over-analyzing to figure out what I was supposed to do with that information.
