Every decade since 1900 has been known for something; every decade has had a 'defining aesthetic' that everyone can look at and say,
>yep that's the (for example) 1920s
or
>that's so 1980s
But, other than covid, what exactly will the 2020s be 'known' for? Everything has felt hollow, empty, and just genuinely pointless. We're halfway through the decade, and it's just been gut-punch after gut-punch, with long stretches of 'nothing interesting happening.'

What do you think the 2020s will or should be known for?

Seems about right. A degenerated extension of the 2010s. I intentionally wear non-name brand stuff though.

I'd say aesthetics have sped up recently, but that may just be cause I've lived through the 2010s and not the 80s for example
>other than covid, what exactly will the 2020s be 'known' for?
probably
>Jan 6th
>Ukraine
>Gaza
>TikTok, transformation of Twitter
>the new wave of AI
>Trump's second term
>other stuff from the second half of the decade
in terms of music and culture its harder to say, when I look back on the 2010s the stuff I remember most was the popular, kind of cringey but in an endearing way stuff. Things like
>early youtube
>dubstep
>old instagram filters
>slightly shitty EDM chart toppers
>MCU
>LOLrandom stuff
I do think AI is gonna have a progressively larger effect on media culture into the second half of the decade, also economic indicators show we may experience another 2008 style crash soon, so that'll probably be a highlight.

Literally just watched a video about this. I'd say we're already in a recession of sorts, but no one wants to admit it.

Out of all of these, AI is the only thing thats completely new. Social media and MAGA are products of the 2010s, the Ukraine war began in 2014, and Israel/Palestine have been going at it since the 1940s.
The pandemic fucked us so badly that we're incapable of creating anything good anymore, just dystopian, world-ending technology. Grim outlook.

I'm being GREEN by importing millions of brownoids who actually consume more than whites once they're in my country and also by paving over every square inch of land but putting my recycling bin out every week.

we've reached our peak, anon
the sky's the limit and we've gone well beyond the skies
we've searched the heavens, we've scoured the seas, we've done all that we can - now we're actively dismantling it all and regressing

idk if you're like me but in vidya, once i feel like i've done enough with this character i just... delete the save and start over
too bad you can't do that irl

Pretty underwhelming. I thought we'd be like The Jetsons by now. Instead, we're more akin to the Flintstones...but with smartphones.

2004 to now is like that shitty era of the early 1980s that was still like the 1970s but nothing new comes along to reshape anything
