I read this article and it's pretty saddening.

>If you're gen Z you have around 10-15 cousins, if you were born in 1950 you would have 20 cousins.
>If you were born now, you'd have around 6 or less cousins, and barely any uncles or aunts.

I may be a failure now, but growing up it was really nice connecting with my family.
My mom's side of the family had 20+ cousins, a HUGE family and the gatherings were always amazing, meeting so many people and hearing about their lives, and all these people are connected to (YOU).

Gen Alpha and later won't have this, there will be no
>"hey let's go on vacation to your Uncle's house and spend time with your cousins!"
now they'll get
>"uhhh, let's go spend time with your aunt's 20 cats and empty, decrepit womb".

Not only are social circles dying, but family ones too, and no politician seems to really care.

Republicans babble non-stop about people needing to have more kids. Whether that's really caring or not, idk.
The only sibling of mine who has children is the one on welfare, all the others are single or afraid because they already struggle with bills.

I was a melennial and I never had any cousins that I grew up with anyway, my mother was an only child, my father was estranged from his family and died early. I know he had siblings but I never met them or even know their names.

Yeah but they do it while raising taxes on the lower classes and then increasing costs of living.

Democrats do the same thing talking about occupation decline, for years they were talking about overpopulation and how people need to have less kids and now that they are, they've decided to use their old trick to justify importing a billion third worlders which bring up costs of living and just make the cycle even worse.

I missed out, I am thirty-three and I had exactly zero cousins who were within ten years of my age, they were all older and so they were more like adults to me.
I have one daughter and another on the way and neither my sister, nor my brother-in-law seem to be intent on having children or even getting married.
My point is that this effect is compounding.

I was born 15-20 years after all my cousins. I have never been close with any of them and they all moved to the opposite coast. With the death of my grandparents, I only ever see my parents (occasionally my sister). When I am 40-50, I will have for all intents and purposes NO family and 20-30 years to live that way.

I just read it and don't see the numbers you're claiming. It doesn't mention Gen Z at all.

not really, second cousins are replacing first cousins. I know my second cousins. that said people are scattered around the country so we don't see them very often.

OP lied.
Closest I could find to his claim is this site saying millennials today have more like 5 cousins vs. around 7 for how many cousins their great-grandparents had.
https://worldcrunch.com/culture-society/cousins-important-demographics/
The article in the OP pic doesn't mention Gen Z at all.

It didnt really bother me growing up. My only alive family members were my mother and father which kind of sucked because there was nobody around except for them since everyone else had kicked the bucket and they were old to start with, as well as not having any siblings myself. i just remember having a very quiet childhood and being sort of confused by big family celebration stuff like christmas on the tv

Millennial here. I'm glad my mom has a huge family (she is 1 of 10 siblings). That means I have a ton of aunts and uncles and cousins. Family gatherings were fun when I was growing up because there were always a ton of other kids to play with. I get along with all of my cousins and I'm very close, like sibling close, with a couple of them.
