>>81714243 (OP)"Woke" began as slang for adherents to the "social justice" cause, who were awakened to the problems of society. However it soon began to be used as a justification for absurdities like safe spaces and the idea men can be women, if you disagree they will claim you are a "fascist" or a KKK member and this is how it is generally understood by most now, using this as a way to silence real debate, particularly on the internet but also in colleges and places where it is prevalent. Since "woke" is no longer perceived as fashionable contemporary African American vernacular slang among the left it usually means the latter.
We now live in a society where everyone treads on eggshells over "racism", "sexism", "homophobia" and "transphobia". If a business is 60% men, this can be used as evidence in frivolous discrimination lawsuits to claim they are "sexist", even if they are 60% women they might still claim there are not enough women board members or the boss was "manspreading" or "mansplaining", for example. There are equivalents for "racial microaggressions", "transphobia" and the like.
This was supposed to be the social revolution of the 2010s, but it simply resulted in Trump being elected who was seen as the only public figure willing to defy the "woke" left despite his chicanery and shenanigans. DEI has been rolled back and transsexuals are no longer viewed as their gender of choice by presidential decree, however a deep polarization remains and likely will manifest in other ways as America declines.
