why does getting good at something start out so boring and tedious and discouraging?
i want to learn how to fucking draw but it's boring as fuck to draw cubes and it's discouraging to not be able to draw the cubes right. how the fuck do people learn to draw when it starts out so fucking boring?
what the fuck is going on?
what do i do?

Draw whatever you want so you remind yourself of how fun it can be, doesn't matter how shit it looks like, you can see the progress when you advance and motivate yourself

I went to art school (RISD) and lost the love of drawing because of how tedious and inhumanly CLINICAL and boring they made it.
Years later I got back into doodling (mainly to draw memes to post on /x/) and I discovered that drawing is actually fun.

When you turn art into a process WITHOUT REWARD (because the ancient artists were paid or at least in a guild so their livelyhood was on the line, so they didn't mind tedious learning) but today modern art is self indulgent trash.

i don't believe things are boring when you're good at em. i've been good at other things in the past and it was fun and felt good when people witnessed my proficiency.
