I as a male mammal am meant to get approval and sex from females but I basically never interact with them. I only look at images, videos and drawings of them. Of course I have low confidence, confidence comes from females assessing you as a high quality mate. It's how your brain gets you to play the game, sadly even when you totally lost your still can't escape your biology and you have to keep playing till you die. That's the worse way to go for confidence. Confidence just means you know you are competent, that you can solve problems and know your skills in the world. Confidence comes from your position in the social hierarchy. Your brain is constantly assessing where you stand and rewarding/pushing you based on your performance. And for human males status comes from female approval. Competence = your ability to secure a mate and survival.

Well the cycle starts in childhood by repeatedly being checked by your peers till you are sorted to your natural place in the hierarchy. It's not an arbitrary sorting. And I'll be sorted out for the same traits now as an adult as when the cycle started even if I magically gained confidence or had the skills to mask it.
