"Non-conformity"? Is that it? Is that the "positive"? It's a net negative. I'd much rather be neurotypical and not have to go through all this loneliness and suffering, knowing I'll never truly connect with another person in my entire life. Having pride over autism is such an obvious cope, unless you're some kind of schizoid-adjacent type but most autists aren't. Most of us want connection but will never get it. The thing people live for, friends and family, that's the one thing that just had to be so massively impacted by this shitty fucking disorder.
>but STEM and shit
Most autists aren't high IQ though, and even in the corporate environment having shit social skills is a massive detriment. Statistically, most autists are unemployed and the few that work are mostly found in shit like retail and other low-skill jobs. Even autists with high IQ are statistically underemployed. But let's say you did luck out with high IQ and somehow managed to climb the corporate ladder despite all the odds. What then? Have lots of money so you can distract yourself from your loneliness? Might be better than nothing, but it's still pretty fucking bad. It's no wonder we're massively overrepresented in suicides.
