>>81750458 (OP)I wish I did things and didn't worry about how good I was at them... I just ruined my night playing Smash Bros Melee online because I don't practice enough to be good, but still get upset when I lose badly. Recently I was playing only single player stuff and having the time of my life, so I don't know why I'm punishing myself like this. I personally think it's because I have no self worth, and if I'm not doing something other people see as valuable (and express that value to me) then I have no value; by being recognized by peers as good at a game, I am worth something to others (even if that games community is not worth the dirt on my shoe).
Pouring my heart out aside, I honestly think that's a great mindset to have, being able to just enjoy your hobbies without worrying too much about improving. I think the internet really affected how people view their hobbies, with lots of people thinking first and foremost that they better get very good at what they're doing, else people think they're retarded or something. So I actually think you are on the right track.
